Well, a funny thing has happened while the outside world was seemingly putting Jones out to pasture, not only has the old man regained his old fire, but Jones is stronger and more powerful than ever with the Cowboys and the NFL.

“I have just got a lot more to offer today than I did 25 years ago,” Jones said. “I’m not bragging. I am just saying it’s from sheer input. And I’m thankful I have got the health and thankful that I’ve got the enthusiasm. I should be better. Not only should I be better in the draft room, but I should be better in almost any aspect.”

So for all of you believing the Cowboys will continue to make good decisions in the upcoming 2017 NFL Draft, which begins Thursday and runs through Saturday, as long they keep the elder Jones out of the way, just know Jones will be at the center of the “War Room.”

No decision will be made without his approval.

Wonder why this is your OP and given front page status when there is a board for Jerry and another board for flaming content...

25 years later and the old man is still obsessed with trying to prove he should get credit for construction of Jimmy's teams per the comment re the draft room.

That tells you right there, if you ever had any doubt, who was responsible.

Jerry probably expects his own holiday named after him for his recent resurrection.

“I have just got a lot more to offer today than I did 25 years ago,” Jones said. "And I owe it all to Dallasol: a proprietary blend of Rogaine, Cialis and Redbull. And for $39.99 per suppository, you can revitalize your life as well!"

A waste of an article.

We all know Jerry has final say. The difference now than say 10 years ago is Jerry didn't really take advice and input from people 10 years ago now he takes counsel from his son and McClay. Again, if this were the Jerry of ten years ago, we'd be wondering if Manziel was going to show up for camp.

We will never know how close Jerry came to taking Manziel; and probably its better that we don't. Have had enough draft nightmares as it is.

He listened to Jimmy then Lacewell then Parcells then Ciskowski and now McClay. He also paid attention to his coaches like when he let Gailey tell him not to draft Moss or that crap that Wade got him to draft at the top of the 2009 draft. He has never been a maverick.

Main difference is his increase reliance on his son for big picture strategy in addition to his personnel guys and coaches. Veteran free agency and draft trading has been the biggest areas of difference now that Stephen negotiates all of it.

Both personnel and cap management are in hand now...and the best way to progress, the draft, has been given respect long enough for the staff to start coming to the front.
