Scary quote of the day:

Well, no Ware. But we see some positive things going on here. Corner up, boys.

Completely agree about forcing picks. I guess I was just saying that, based on the rankings I am looking at, it could work out nicely for the Cowboys in the first two rounds with there being good players at positions of need (DE and CB).

I focused on Watt because he was specifically mentioned in the article but, I could easily see Harris, McKinley or Charlton being the DE at 28 as well.

As they say in military, no plan survives first contact with the enemy. That's what makes the draft must see TV for me.

and we don't need a ROT ? MIGHT BE CAM ROBINSON

If a quality edge rusher is available, I think it would be a mistake not to take one. Yes, CB is a position of need but I also see the success of this dfense starting with putting opposing QBs under duress. We need to get more pressure, which will automatically make the CB position better

If they stay at 28, somebody will unexpectedly (or maybe not unexpectedly) fall that and likely be the pick. I do think that there will be a run on QBs (all teams are selling hope this time of year) and OL since it is a bad draft for OL and many teams are desperate, pushing defenders down. There will likely be a helpful pass rusher there but not a war daddy. I think think this will be the pick. There wont be a huge difference in the DB available at 28 and 60, so DB will get pushed down a round.

I didn't read that as them going CB early and off.

Frankly that makes me think they are desperate to find the next Ware.

You might want to take your blinders off. I didn't read that as them going CB early and off.

Frankly that makes me think they are desperate to find the next Ware.

If he left it at the "no Ware" comment, I would believe you. But to add that there that little positive spin at it leaves the door open to "is this guy any better than the 'good solid football players' we have"?

How anyone can look at the pass rushers we have and see "good, solid" after getting killed by the lack of pressure in the game that ended our season is beyond me.

Meanwhile, selling a CB is relatively easy because they are short bodies there.

We have only three players at CB that have started an NFL game! Everybody knows you can never have enough cornerbacks!

Lets hope this isnt strike three bcause the count is 0-2 after Lawrence and Gregory.

Tankersley's name keeps popping up in association with the Cowboys. Perhaps more than any other cornerback we have visited with other than Adoree Jackson.

I don't think he is good enough to justify 28 though.

If he's their guy then I wish they would move back but they won't.

They like that 5th year option more then another player.

Unless it is a QB, it is foolish to worry about the fifth year option.

Most CBs aren't even effective after five years, much less worrying about their second contract coming up in four.

Doesn't surprise me...I just don't think the team values a pass rusher in the 1st round, considering they haven't taken one in almost 10 years!

I am not sure you read his quote properly.

He seems to be saying we have some good DL but we are missing the guy that when you break the huddle teams wonder "where is that guy lined up." They want that type of guy again.

I am not sure how you took his quote to mean we will have to go CB early and often.

No offense it your whole anti-CB early and anti-Jones angle is making you see things that aren't there.

Oh, I think we definitely need a ROT as I am not confident that guy is currently on the roster. I hope Chaz can shake off the injury bug and be the guy but, hope isn't a good plan imo. Robinson and Moton are both options in the 2nd round which I would consider. I just don't think the team is as concerned as we are about ROT.

If you mean "properly" as like you did, no.

I read the quote and I fully understand he is saying there is no player like Ware that teams worry about.

How many NFL teams have that kind of player? Four or five? Means nothing to me.

They want that type of guy again

And so does every other NFL team, every year, every draft. But you don't see many of them saying "but we got some good solid ones though!".

I don't think your scenario really works as it is not a definite any of the three pass rushers make it to 60.

On the other hand, it is very likely that a good CB like Tankersley, Fabian Moreau, Sidney Jones or Quincy Wilson make it to 60.

I would be very disappointed if we try to play that little game and end up having to force the pick of a DE that is outside of value parameters.

All in all, if I had to play the sheer numerical averages, you quite simply don't go corner in the first unless the value is there. Outside of Lattimore and Conley, you could have your pick of five to seven cornerbacks all clustered together in terms of value.

They need star players, not more OK players.

IF they don't see the available DEs as likely star type players, then they should pick another position.

I prefer to just wait if the options are all DLaw types.

To me, more CBs might mean it's more likely one of them is going to be great.

Thing is, how many "star" CBs have been drafted in the first round the past decade? Revis? Peterson? Who else?

I see a whole lot of "OK" than "star players".

To me, more CBs might mean it's more likely one of them is going to be great.

Based on what? Sell me on this comment because it makes zero sense to me.

No I see him saying they have some solid guys but lack the playmaker. I take what he says at face value.

That's it. I don't then make this jump in logic that he's telling fans be prepared for them to draft a crap ton of CBs in this draft.

I think he is quite clear. We like what we have at DL but we realize we lack that dominant player.
