Cowboys’ Jourdan Lewis faced previous domestic violence accusation

I always find it funny the reaction to these type of events with limited knowledge by fans. I generally prefer to wait until the information is out there to form an opinion.

It seems the board collectively decides in advance of that based on their hopes for the player.
We get it dude. You're smarter than everyone.

I don't do default judgements but obviously you do. If a woman is guilty of falsely claiming someone has done them harm in anyway, she should be prosecuted. She does damage to the cause of women that are actually harm. You don't have to be a genius to figure that out. Her story lacks any evidence yet you are willing to give her the benefit of doubt. That says a lot more about you than it does about me.

Right. I've seen your stance on just about every case we've seen involving a Cowboy. You are fooling yourself.

If you have been around long enough then you know between the draft and training camp is the time of year with the heaviest Kool-Aid consumption.

was talking about the recent one. But she still seems to be pretty stupid since she made claims that had no physical proof.

So a woman who isn't battered and bruised in an obvious manner should not come forward? That sounds like really good advice. Wait till you take a serious beating then report it.

if you have no physical evidence, what is your chance of winning.
if there was abuse, leave the person.
the case, even in the worse interpretation, does not sound like a dangerous situation.

A 'he said, she said' story?

Lewis is facing a charge of domestic violence for the March incident. The misdemeanor carries a maximum penalty of 93 days in jail and/or a $500 fine upon conviction. The court may also impose probation.

Lewis, who participated over the weekend in the Cowboys' rookie minicamp at The Star, has pleaded not guilty. His jury trial is set to begin July 24, the same day the Cowboys are scheduled to practice for the first time at training camp in Oxnard, Calif.

John Shea, Lewis' Michigan-based defense attorney, didn't return a call to his office seeking comment.

Last week, Lewis tweeted, "He say, she say is cool ... but I like facts."

On March 15, Lewis' girlfriend told police she came home to their apartment at about 12:30 a.m. and found Lewis asleep in bed with the light on. She said the two "got into a heated argument about the light being left on and who pays the bills."

Lewis threw two pillows from the bed into the face of his girlfriend. Lewis then retreated to a closet. At some point, the girlfriend alleges, Lewis "dragged her across the living room floor." When the girlfriend was asked by police how she was dragged, she told the officer she was not sure.

The girlfriend also said Lewis grabbed her by the neck and held her down on the floor for about three seconds. She said Lewis then left the apartment.

Lewis told police he went into the closet to get dressed to leave, and his girlfriend then "forced open the door and struck him in the face." When asked how she struck him in the face, he told police he "was not exactly sure." The girlfriend did tell police she "struck/pushed Lewis in the chest."

Lewis told police he tried to exit the apartment, but his girlfriend grabbed onto one of his legs by wrapping her arms and legs around his leg to prevent him from leaving.

When asked if he had grabbed her throat, "he stated that he may have grabbed it while trying to get her off him but had no intentions to hurt [her]," according to the report. He stated at no time was he trying to assault her.

Lewis was arrested. The following day, police photographed his girlfriend's alleged injuries, including two scratches (one on her nose and one on her left thumb). No injury to her neck could be seen, the report said.

"It's sad that somebody would want to control you so bad they would ruin your life over it," Lewis tweeted at the time before deleting it.

The 2015 incident
Two years ago, the female who has dated Lewis on and off for the last three years told police about a physical altercation at the same apartment.

She called 911 at 11:54 a.m. on May 5, 2015. Lewis was standing outside the apartment when two officers arrived.

The officers didn't notice any injuries to either Lewis or his girlfriend but did see a shower caddy tipped over and doors to the closet, which was across the hall from the bathroom, were off their track and on an angle.

Lewis told police he was naked in the bathroom "washing up" using a sink when he asked his girlfriend for a towel. He said his girlfriend refused to grab a towel for him and told him to use his hands. He said the two began to argue, and she reached her hand through the ajar bathroom door to hand him a "black, hand towel." He said after he took the towel he closed the door, not noticing her hand was still in the doorway.

The door slammed on her hand. Lewis told police his girlfriend became upset and told him to leave the apartment. Lewis said his girlfriend then grabbed his arms and tried to pull him out of the bathroom. He said he was able to push her hands off his arms, and she then fell onto the ground. He told police he was trying to get her away from him and did not assault her.

The girlfriend told police she opened the locked bathroom door with a key while Lewis was "washing up." She said Lewis became upset and "pushed her backward with both hands," and she hit the closet doors with her back, knocking them off their track. She said Lewis then grabbed her and pulled her into the living room, where she fell to her right knee. She told police she then told Lewis, "I don't feel safe. Please leave." She said she then called 911, and Lewis hit her hand twice because he knew she was calling the police.

The officer told the female how she could obtain a personal protection order against Lewis, but she said "she doesn't need one at this time."

Two days later, the Washtenaw County prosecuting attorney denied charges, citing "conflicting statements between the parties, unable to prove crime elements."

Wow.

Anyone who wants to take these accounts and still call him akin to some of the other higher profile cases of "domestic violence" like Rice or Hardy need their heads examined.

But I am sure they are out there.

To me, it sounds like he had a psychotic girlfriend on his hands.
NO DOUBT!
I can picture the scene of him trying to walk across the living room floor and she's got a leg and arm death grip lock strapped around his leg:lmao2:
Man , women just need to STOP BEING SO DAMN CLINGY,,,:lmao::lmao2::lmao:

In 2015?

It actually just sounds like they were two idiots that both need to grow up. Assuming she's somehow completely at fault or a gold digger, without any evidence, while similarly dismissing all her claims, also without evidence, is (pardon my french) bull****.

As is often the case, it's likely they're both at fault and acted immaturely. The difference is Lewis is trying to land a high profile job where stuff like this is an issue. If he was trying to land an office job, it wouldn't be.

Yeah man she bitter now. He is a Dallas Cowboys and doing better. She might try to file a civil suite against him too. I don't know what happen those nights but I hope Lewis become smarter with his actions and the females he choose.

He threw pillows and tried to leave. That sounds pretty dangerous.

may not be much to it but he needs to do better now needs to get his life straight

I realize that, for most of us, we place Dallas Cowboys players on a pedestal. That's the nature of being a fan.

Having said that, I cringe at that the automatic reaction by many here on CZ to any domestic abuse related acquisition / incident where their first and immediate reaction is that the females are always just "gold digging", looking for fame, or generally speaking bad people.
