So two directors (Lord and Miller)had a different vision than Kasdan and they are gone.

Ron Howard steps in.

It is rumored that the actor playing Han Solo said these "comedic" directors vision of Han Solo didn't portray the character in a respectful light.

The said directors turned 21 jump street movie into the comedy garbage it was... how do you even hire these guys?

“Help us, Opie-Wan Kenobi, you’re our only hope”

They already have things going against it trying to replace Harrison Ford. They need to get it right. I like Ron Howard but his last few movies have been mediocre. Hope he does good.

Ron should put Mayberry into this Star Wars Han Solo film. Aunt Bee with a lightsaber.

This is going to be a disaster! Solo not played by Ford will not work :(

The direction they went with 21/22 Jump Street was perfect. I thought it was going to suck, bit was pleasantly surprised. I would not have enjoyed those movies if they had gone another direction.

That's not the right direction for this, however.

Just stop with prequels/spin-offs. Just a few years into Disney's take on the Star Wars universe and I'm already tired of it and we have only seen two movies from them.

There are already enough prequel and even some sequels through comic and novel form.

Ron Howard is a George Lucas prodigy and already has several quality projects under his belt. I think he will show the proper respect to this project and to a fine job. I would have hated the Han Solo movie be treated like a Benny Hill comedy hour the way Jump Street 21/22 movies ended up.

Sorry Charlie. They didn't just buy Lucas legacy for nothing! Invest $4 billion and turn it into $20 ?

It's been said that you, me... many others won't be alone very to see the last Star Wars movie ever made.

And it is not true that making sequels or prequels ruins the original greatness of original film/films trilogy.
One has nothing to do with the other.

21 jump street was a cool show. That comedy crap with those two actors was ridiculous. It was disrespectful. Same with chips I Imagine.

Hopefully I can actually decipher that comment...

First off, I don't think the original Star Wars is "greatness" - I'm not a huge fan, I think they are campy as hell and family dramas in space. In terms of blockbuster defining and money making, they were great. Content wise? Meh. I have always been disappointed in theater form, how little they have actually done with expanding.

Prequels, NORMALLY, are a waste of time. The Han Solo movie isn't wanted, it's looking like a disaster, there are already comics of Solo adventures that are still canon. Han Solo, on his own, is simply not interesting enough as a character to warrant his own movie - he is a character that plays off of other characters, that's why his character is great. He's not a leading character.

Spin-offs and sequels are a waste of time in theatrical form - focus on comics/books if that is absolutely needed. Move a franchise forward, don't fill in gaps to stories that were made decades ago.

I myself think it is in terms of good vs evil storyline. The characters are iconic (for many fans). I guess everyone has their own view what defines greatness.
