The Dallas Cowboys have been a staple of mediocrity for the past 20 years but Jerry Jones’ legacy is much more than wins and losses on the football field.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerral “Jerry” Jones Sr. purchased the team on February 25th, 1989 for $140 million. Immediately following, Jones fired two-time Super Bowl winning coach Tom Landry. And long time general manager Tex Schramm was let go as well.

After receiving much criticism for firing icons of the Cowboys organization, Jones was able to rebuild America’s Team. Within seven years of purchasing the team, the Cowboys won three Super Bowls...

I like him!
That whole history thing goes way back!
Let's just say he bought the ' cowboys' and luvs them just as much as if jimmy Hoffa's loan for the San Diego chargers would've 'gelled',,,, sheese!
The history section of this COWBOYS ZONE is chock full of 'pre' cowboy history.

Right!? Silly question, Sarge.

Jerry is the greatest marketer but that's about it as far as platitudes and achievements go for him. And really, who cares what owner is the best at friggin' marketing.

Hire a GM (like, by title -- we all know McClay is the de facto GM) and get the hell out of the kitchen, then pull off a run like Kraft has, then we can talk.

But that ain't gonna happen.

Kraft is the best owner in the NFL right now, and probably ever, considering parity and how much he stays out of the kitchen yet supports and defers to Belichick and Co.

Well...that should be a popular view!!

Jerry Jones gave us 3 (early) Superbowls. That can not be forgotten and it shouldn't be. He started to think he was a real GM after those early years. I can understand that. He followed those glory yrs with 20 yrs of failure. The Jones family finally saw what was happening, too late, and made some technical changes. The FO has finally adjusted to ole Jerry boy and seems to be on the right course. Lets give the Jones family one more chance. Seems fair at this point.
