NFL announces Harold Henderson will handle Ezekiel Elliott appeal

The first, and most important, decision regarding the Ezekiel Elliott has been made.

The NFL has announced (as a practical matter) that Harold Henderson will handle the Elliott appeal.

Under the labor deal, the Commissioner has the ability to handle the appeal personally or delegate it to someone else. Many believed Goodell would handle it on his own; however, because he made the initial decision (even though he wasn’t present for the hearing), it was unlikely that he would have been the one to review it.

I think the suspension gets reduced to 2 games now. One for the St. Paddy's day incident and one to let Zeke know he isn't infallible.
They already closed that case though as the woman did not cooperate. At this point, I think Ezekiel Elliott's legal team will be going for a complete removal of the suspension.

Most players fight suspensions to reduce them because they know they are guilty and simply want to miss as few games as possible. Elliott on the other hand, like Tom Brady did, claims he is innocent so they will fight to have the suspension rescinded. Not saying he will win given the absolute power that the NFL has in these matters, but I don't think a suspension reduction is their goal right now.

Zeke and his attorneys aren't settling. They have no reason to. They know this case is a sham, and when his attorneys secure a victory in court over the NFL? Their reputation, and rates, will skyrocket.

Based on this evidence? This case is easy pickins.

I don't think so. The NFL has gotten a lot of good press from the anti-domestic assault groups and media types. They love the fact that the NFL basically called Elliott a domestic abuser.

For them to then cut this to two games for that shirt incident and just because they want to, it's going to undue all the goodwill they wanted to gain from this ruling.

I think they are going to make a court knock it down. That way, the NFL can issue a statement saying that "hey, we wanted to punish him harshly but the court said otherwise".

That's exactly what they're hoping for.

"We tried!"

He is the one that knocked greg hardy down from 10 games to 4 games but he is still a company man.

Exactly, this is the guy the NFL wants to knock the suspension from 6 games to 2 and hope Dallas walks away. We had a huge thread on the Greg Hardy hearing in the OT thread, this is the arbitrator that heard Hardy's lawyers show the accusations had absolutely no credibility and still deliver the answer that the NFL wanted.

This is absolutely going to Federal Court unless Dallas decides to live with a 2 game (or so) suspension.
