If I'm Elliot, the only way I'd accept any kind of suspension without taking to it court is for the NFL to re-word the basis of the suspension to something other than "domestic abuse". Call it a "pattern of behavior that reflects poorly on the league" or whatever, but the "domestic abuse" would have to go. Otherwise, he'll be acknowledging or tacitly agreeing with their characterization of him.

I don't know if Elliot is guilty or innocent, but the evidence I've seen thus far does not make the case for his guilt.

This is another instance of what is happening all over this country today: People in power are pandering to special interest groups and are more than willing to sacrifice others to protect themselves and show how virtuous they are.

Exactly, this is the guy the NFL wants to knock the suspension from 6 games to 2 and hope Dallas walks away. We had a huge thread on the Greg Hardy hearing in the OT thread, this is the arbitrator that heard Hardy's lawyers show the accusations had absolutely no credibility and still deliver the answer that the NFL wanted.

This is absolutely going to Federal Court unless Dallas decides to live with a 2 game (or so) suspension.
My math could be wrong but 6-6 equals 0

As if he thinks it will matter.

Everything ends up on his desk anyway.

He will hang for this.

His contract is up after the 2018 season. They certainly won't buy him out.

That means he made about $500 million during his time as commissioner. Not bad.

Not at all. He won't much care about the court of public opinion sipping mai tai's on his private island.

That said, this clown needs to go, because the only thing he's handled well was the labor negotiations.

I don't expect a firing, I expect his teeth removed while he sits out the remainder of his contract.

I think Zeke's legal team will fight anything that associates him with DV. If the league reduces it 2 games (not likely) due to the St. Patricks Day incident, they'll probably accept that. But ya, the best case scenario for Zeke's team is if Henderson reduces it to 4 games, but that's not likely.

I don't think Zeke will accept any suspension because it immediately nullified the guaranteed money from his contract, and it means another suspension would likely result in a full year.

The Cowboys would probably be cool to take 2 games and be done with it. They'd be off the hook for the guaranteed money if he got hurt.

But if he really did hit her, he should just take the 2 games.

Roger Goodell isn't properly trained to oversee this NFL zoo of craziness. Few people are.

I don't think the Cowboys are "cool" with any suspension either. Because you're then looking at a "face of the franchise" labeled a "woman beater". Not cool.

Who cares about the appeal, this thing is going straight to the courts no question about it. NFL will have an ugly fight on their hands with this one.

Exactly. This is just a formality.

And I don't fault him for that. I fault him for doing nothing to correct it. And now simply making a bad situation worse.

I fault him for leading an organization that intentionally swept the Ray Rice DV under the rug until it became a public outcry.

I fault him for turning the NFL into a witch hunt afterward to try to make up for the bad PR.

I fault him for being John Mara's lickspittle and setting up Zeke Elliot to be suspended for the Giants game - just because the Giants owner doesn't want to face him.

Exactly! This isn't just about missing games nor is it all about football money. If he does not fight this, then a past or future girl friend or date thinks she can get a pay day, he will be a much easier target as long as he has domestic violence ruling of any kind against him. This could cost him a year or more of football, which is already very limited for most running backs, and more importantly, it will kill endorsement deals he has and would have been able to get.

Roger Goodell is running as fast as he can away from this :D

Not really. He is letting his deputy handle it in order to establish the appearance of propriety. People can judge for themselves if it will be effective.

Could be tricky. If Harold Henderson waits to make a decision until the end of the day on Friday before the Giants game, there's no time for an injunction.

All of which are true.
