This has to be a way to stash him. Surely, a concussion isn't a multi-month thing with him. The hit didn't look that bad.

Realistically we don't need him that much right away anyway.

Witten, Swaim, Hannah are all more refined. Rico just has the athleticism to make plays in the receiving game.

Having Swaim and Hannah both back healthy is HUGE.

He won't make it to the PS and if he goes on the IR then he can't practice

He only goes on the IR if he has a severe head injury and that sucks

My think as well. Stash him on IR. Keep Hannah and Swaim for the year, and still allows Dallas to develop Gathers. If witten went down Gathers would probably flash in the passing game but get demolished in the run game. Another year hidden away allows him to become more well rounded.

He doesn't need that much work and he can't practice on the IR.... just keep him active

He's concussed, and it's obviously more than a minor one. By all accounts he hasn't even been seen at the Star since they returned from Oxnard.

I don't think this has anything to do with hiding or stashing him, he's got a bad concussion, they must feel he's gonna need some time to recover. He clearly was making the 53 based on performance, he hasn't passed thru the protocol. Maybe I'm wrong, but sure seems that way.

He would not be "demolished" in the run game. He's the most powerful blocker of all the TEs on the team. He just need to be more precise as a blocker.

If the NFL were serious about concussions they would have a rule in place to allow roster exemptions for players in the concussion protocol. Players in the concussion protocol would not feel rushed to get back and the team would be under no rush to push them onto the field before they are ready.
