Cancelling last preseason game hurts our rookies

Would have been nice to see Awuzie, Woods, and Switzer in more game action. Tough to put those guys out there in week 1 with meaningful snaps having such little game action (or none for Switzer). On the plus side, no more risk of injuries to any of the back end of the roster guys who would be playing and entire team will be well rested.

The rookies being hurt is what hurt the rookies as Reality posted.

A.few snaps in the last throw away preseason game was not going to help.

Now. They will have to get snaps when they can or get thrown into the fire when it comes time.

I don't mind. I just don't want to see anybody on the roster get hurt in a preseason football game. The 20-30 snaps or so we'd see from these guys in preseason game 5 don't mean all that much to me. The real test will be v. the Giants, anyway.

I actually think this is a good thing. Like a bonus bye week. We already had our four preseason games, and now I won't have to spend three hours tomorrow night worrying about somebody else getting hurt in a pointless game.

I understand our rookies need more reps, but how much would they have gained playing against Houston's scrubs in a game their hearts clearly would not be in? There's more important matters to tend to, for both teams.

Mara is probably already in Goodell's ear about a presumed unfair advantage.
About as much as Jerry is in his ear on the other side, I would imagine. If such things were happening...
Remember: Jerry is not some cripple asking Scrooge for Christmas presents.

Agree that the rookies getting hurt in the first place was the worst thing. But you'd like Awuzie and Switzer's to have had more game NFL action before trotting them out against the Giants. But cest le vie
