Cancelling last preseason game hurts our rookies

rookies should be the least of every ones worries right about now, dear lord a city is UNDER WATER!!!!

The top 5 DBs have been set for the entire preseason and none of the rookies were in there.

Switzer's main role is punt returner.

I think we will survive.

The Cowboys already played four preseason games so I see it as a wash.

Would have been nice to see Awuzie, Woods, and Switzer in more game action. Tough to put those guys out there in week 1 with meaningful snaps having such little game action (or none for Switzer). On the plus side, no more risk of injuries to any of the back end of the roster guys who would be playing and entire team will be well rested.

Don't think it matters really.

The team knows who they are keeping.

Unfortunate the rookie DBs never made the field.

But it's going to take a lot of prep and reps for them.

Both lines have plenty of options..

and that's not including the cut down coming soon.

For the Giants game, Awusie is the 4th CB and plays special teams. Switzer gets the Lucky Whitehead snaps in 4 or 5 WR formations but Beasley is the PR. Lewis and Woods are inactive.

Switzer PR only in game 1, IMO.

They don't need an extra slot WR. It's a good toy for the OC but they don't need Switzer at WR.

It seems like the player's wives and kids would have been in Dallas anyway. Most were likely there early this week and will likely stay into next week.

Most players are not from their team's city so it seems unlikely that their parents and siblings are there.

No, it is not going to hurt the rookies, they already played 4 preseason games, I am glad they canceled it so that means they will be able to rest and be prepared for the season opener against the Giants

I dunno, I think sometimes the last game is just a showcase for players getting cut so that they have a chance to be picked up. it would seem to me, at this point, the coaches know everything they need to about each player.

The only exception would be some magical performance by a bubble player that was completely unexpected. I mean, I have seen RB's with 100 yard performances in the last preseason game and it didn't mean a shred of difference. They got cut.

We'll see, but I think it goes the other way. They won't trust him in that first big Monday night game to be the PR, especially since he didn't get to do it in the preseason. However, I do think he takes over the PR duties by around game 3.

I only worry about cohesion in the backfield on defense. We already know it doesn't exist yet and they need work together.

You are correct and unfortunately it will have to come as the season goes along.

I'm glad preseason is done with. 5 games is way too many to have to play. You shouldn't have to play an extra one if you are designated for the HOF game. You just get the last week off.
