You can't have true justice when applying such standards. Such a discussion is for another board but true justice is blind and therefore is impossible to implement when society brings the color of one's skin or whether one has an XY or XX chromosome into the equation.

The Zeke case is a perfect example TBH.

YOu can pretend that racism and sexism don't exist if it makes you feel better.

my personal boycott is to wait until the game starts to tune in (after the national anthem), and flip the channel EVERY SINGLE time a commercial comes on....I am not supporting these kneeling clowns or the NFL specifically...I could not tell you one commercial that I watched in last nights game...I was flipping to movies and then back after 2 or 3 minutes....so, those advertisements were lost on me

It's not just the national anthem issues dragging down ratings.

The next generation of sports fan aren't as crazy about football as earlier generations. My kids grew up playing soccer. My son loves the NBA. The issues around head trauma in the NFL and football in general are taking a slow but steady toll. Beyond all that, you have massive amounts of cord cutting of cable / DirectTV / etc.

I think the last thing you mentioned is a huge factor in all of this. I'm 28 and would call myself squarely in the target market for NFL right now. I only have TV through internet based outlets and the old rabbit ears. I think this is a trend that is very prevalent for people around my age.

You have a major metropolitan area still devastated from a hurricane and 85 percent of Florida preparing for a hurricane. Plus you include a tiny market team like the Chiefs and boom, lowered amount of viewers.

Put the Steelers/Pats, or Cowboys and Packers/Giants, you get record breaking ratings last night.

The NFL players are hurting their pocketbooks.

CBA negotiations, when it comes to money, are very closely tied to ratings and revenue. Ratings bring premium rates for advertising, thus revenue for TV contracts and all that implies.

Last night's kickoff opener was down 12% from the ratings of a year ago. Ratings were already down last year.

I suggest the players get off their butt and stand for the anthem, and stop trying to be social justice warriors. That is, if they don't want to see their checks shrink next CBA.

People are developing a cold shoulder toward athletes. If they want that golden egg, they'd better stop punching the goose.

On a personal note, I can feel my interest waning. I NEVER thought I'd say that about the NFL. Stop preaching to me, and play football.

I watched about a quarter of it and went to bed. The NFL besides the Cowboys just don't interest me like it used to. I'm more disgusted with them than anything else.

They exist and will always exist.

Making them into the boogeyman and using them as an excuse for one's failings in life is something I won't accept. Pull your bootstraps up and get on with it. Humanity has gone through much worse than being told you can't use a certain bathroom or because some statue that's been standing for 100 years offends you. Life is hard for everyone.

Jim Brown said it best when asked about race. I suggest you listen to the interview.

This is a good thing and it is needed. In the end it will be the ultimate nail in the coffin for Roger. The NFL will continue on but they will have to adapt and get rid of that stupid Directv Sunday Ticket model. Sunday Ticket no longer holds / draws people to directv. People would rather stream than sign a bad deal with directv

My interest in the NFL has been declining for years, but it has nothing to do with a few guys kneeling for the anthem.

If I wanted to watch 100 passes thrown inside a building I'd watch the Arena Football League. I miss weather, grass, running the ball, and hard hits that didn't lead to penalties, fines, and suspensions. Now get off my lawn!
Put your TV out in the backyard and enjoy the game in its natural enviroment. Don't forget the bug spray and sunscreen. lol. I understand your frustration.

The national anthem is sooooo annoying, but it is a good time to piss or grab a beer or a knee.

I find its easy for people to say, "there are far worse things than being told to use a certain bathroom" when they don't have to experience the situation personally and the emotions that come with being potentially shunned or disrespected like that.

I find the "life is hard for everyone" to be such a lame excuse nowadays. Life is hard for everyone but it's harder for some people. Denying that is just ignorance IMO.

Good point, kids as a whole dont play outside as much as they used to. We didn't have Netflix and Play station back in the day so we played sports and we indulged in sports. They have other options now. Parents have to kick thier kids out of the house these days. It used to be you couldnt keep us inside.
