And what did Romo accomplish with this team? A playoff win? They are two different types of QB's. Dak more of the game manager/leader, Romo more of the gun slinger.

I'm not going to debate the measures of either since we absolutely don't know if Dak would have done any better quarterbacking the Cowboys teams Romo quarterbacked.

My personal belief is that if Romo had quarterbacked the teams we had in the early 1990s with the coaching staff that the would have had the same playoff success as Aikman. But I can't prove that no more than I can prove whether Dak would have done any better than Romo.

I will agree that they are two different types of QBs, which is why I made the statement I did. I prefer watching Romo and his style of play. However, Dak is only in his second season so we really don't know what his style of play will evolve into.

For crying out loud can we please stop talking about tony romo??? It's over. Forever. So stop it. Please!

I don't understand why some fans get mad when others want to talk about a player who led this team for a long time and has just called it quits. We still talk about Aikman, Emmitt, Staubach, etc., so why should our recently retired QB be off limits?

Fox broadcaster and former Cowboy quarterback Troy Aikman suggested at one point that Dallas could be missing their old quarterback, Tony Romo, who was notorious for his big-play ability.

While it’s just the second game of the season, Prescott’s play continued a trend from last season–smart, yet conservative quarterback play. Cowboys’ head coach Jason Garrett also seemed to agree with Aikman’s notion.

“When they play that style of defense, you have to be able to consistently attack with the passing game,” Garrett said, via the Dallas Morning News. “At different times today, I thought we were able to do that, and at other times we weren’t. We didn’t make the plays, for whatever reason. We really needed to have [consistent] success throwing the ball. We were not able to do that.”

We went from the most underrated QB I. The league to potentially the most overrated. Time to lay in the bed you made

There is absolutely nothing wrong with talking about him and the great memories he brought us in the past tense. Problem is, people insist on bringing up all these ifs and buts about him on this current team and comparing him to Dak while he's retired and announcing games from the booth.

Romo hasn't finished consecutive games without an injury in 3 years. He has retired from the NFL. There is absolutely no point in comparing his current abilities to Dak, etc. until any of these points change.

Make up your mind, Troy Boy

Last year you threw Romo under the bus with your Dak love, you were the first voice to say the Cowboys shouldn't go back to Romo... now they need him!

Bleep off

When you were the Cowboys QB, the Cowboys had to control the pace of the game, because you weren't the type of QB that could lead team back from a deficit

Aikman was compared to Staubach before him. Romo was compared to Aikman. It's just the nature of the beast.

What-ifs seem to be among fans' favorite games, especially after a loss. As I said, I miss watching Romo play, but that's as far as I'll take it because the present is Dak and hopefully he'll be the future too if it means he gives us a good shot at the big prize.

If you don't already know why then I'm not explaining it, because you still wouldn't understand. Simple as that.

How could they not? I mean, at the least, he's light years better then any backup we currently have.

You don't lose that amount of experience at the most important position on the field and not miss it. JMO

3 rec 48 yards
3 rec 38 yards

Those be Dez numbers the last two games with Romo when both were at the top of their games.

2014 playoffs

But the catch that should've been! Desperation

And we had to take that desperate shot because the great Tony Romo foolishly held the ball too long and ate an avoidable sack on second down. How about that dropped snap at the end of the first half? Wiped away what could've been a 21-7 lead at the half! Then overrated Bailey missed the FG: 14-10 at half. Tony, as usual, started the downfall

Romo avoided him in the normal flow of the offense..

Why?

Its not worth it.

For the Dez misses Romo folk

That's a 688 yard season pace w the immortal one throwing Dez the ball

Trustspitta knocking down Romoites falsehoods one by one!

I think it's only natural to compare the new guy to the old guy. Nothing wrong with that IMO, just so long as you completely understand that the old guy is gone and he aint walking back through the door.

I miss watching Romo play too - a lot. I guess what I'm getting at is that it's at least extremely likely that we would be missing watching prime Romo play even if 2017 Romo were our starting quarterback today. Romo's body was already finished whether he were still with us or not.

I fully expect and am on board with comparing Dak's progression/career to Romo's. I just don't think comparing 2017 Dak to 2007-2014 Romo is of any use. Due to age/injury, that Romo was never showing up again regardless.
