The biggest issue facing Goodell right now is Jones. Possible is the fact that New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, who’s also had recent issues with a Goodell controversy, is none too happy either, although Kraft probably asked for his problems.

Having said that, maybe Jones did as well with running back Ezekiel Elliott, who’s current battle with Goodell in court doesn’t look like it’ll be going away any time soon.

But here’s the fact of the matter that I think Goodell is missing, and this is a common problem with people placed in positions of power that are almost never warranted or beneficial. The NFL is what it is because of television money, nothing else and nothing more.

Need to read all the parts. Not sure it adds much afterwards but I did read it all. Fine with me if they part ways. The next CBA might be his downfall as the owners aren't going to be happy with that part IMO.

As long as the money flows he might be safe although it seems any good manager could do that. The NFL doesn't change managers that often so that's in his favor.

I don't understand why he gets paid so much.
Why does he get paid more than say a qb of a popular team that the whole world knows and watches? The avg fan does Not even know who goodell is.
Does he just get a lump sum from every team? Is that why it's so high ?
This is Jerry's argument. He gets paid too much and Jerry doesn't understand it.

If Jerry doesn’t stick a Texas sized boot up Rog’s Arse than either Rog has the goods on him or he’s raking in a lot of cash for the league

Goodell will do whatever he's been doing as long as the owners continue to back him. That needs to change. It's incomprehensible that the NFL owners want to prosper, yet have been willing to allow Goodell to punish players at will without any regard for this country's justice system. If the owners really want to help the league, they'd best find and install a candidate for commissioner with a realistic sense of justice. Goodell stinks.

I still think that it is all owner driven. Goodell is simply their messenger.

He gets paid that sum to take the hits from the general public as well as players union. The surrogate for the owners he's merely a figure head. I'd like to see a different Roger take his job; Roger Staubach

He's a disgrace of a Commissioner. The owners should realize it before it's too late.

The fact that you don't like Roger and direct your anger at him rather than the owners should tell you that he's doing his job pretty damned well. You think they want to give up the best scapegoat they could ask for?

This is Jerry's argument. He gets paid too much and Jerry doesn't understand it.

He was unanimously extended back in 2012, which means Jerry voted in favor of him. If Jerry doesn't understand the guy's paycheck then it's his own fault.

That would be a great man for the job,,,yet we both know that won't happen as he's too old school and not of the 'progressive' stripe that's currently dismantling the bastions of Americana.
Ha, Goodell fired back at the POTUS's comments he'd made up in Michigan yesterday, the players union volleyed back, TOO!o_O

Projected league revenues are down $200 million so far this early in its harvest season,,, it needs to be twice that IMO;)

Oh no doubt. As much as I have loved the NFL for decades I believe I will watch the ECU vs Yukon college game today at noon. I will still watch the Boys of course but have no desire to watch other NFL games. Aside from the needless political aspect I agree the the game has just been to emasculated and doesn't hold the same entertainment value it once had.

I heard someone say that MTV doesn't show music videos, ESPN doesn't show sports, and Rolling Stone Magazine doesn't cover music anymore. I wonder what the NFL will turn into?
