Cowboy Tweets 9/26

Jourdan Lewis could end up being the Cowboys' best pick in the '17 draft. Should never have lasted to #92 but teams were scared of that potential DV that turned out to be literally a pillow fight.

Lewis and Woods have impressed me the most. Awuzie looked good in his limited action a few weeks ago, making a few great reads/plays on screens/short passes.

Really could have a strong secondary next year as they get more experience.

I'd be curious where they see Woods............ potential replacement for Heath or Jones?

What does this even mean? How can you have more Value-Added Disruptions than regular disruptions? Oh, okay, I found it:

WHAT IS A DISRUPTION?

A disruption is a sack, tackle for loss, quarterback hit, pass defended, forced fumble, or interception.

WHAT IS VAD?

Value Added Disruption. Not all disruptions are equal. Some are more valuable than others. VAD is an attempt to gauge the value of each player’s disruptions.

Interception – 3.0
Sack – 1.5
Tackle for Loss – 1.25
Pass Defended – 1.0
Forced Fumble – 0.75
QB Hit – 0.75

How were those weights assigned? I'm guessing randomly, based on what the inventor felt like. A QB hit is worth as much as a forced fumble? A forced fumble is worth only half as much as a sack? I don't think this passes the smell test.

The future suddenly does look bright in the secondary. I would put Woods at free safety, shift Byron Jones to slot corner (Scandrick isn't playing forever) and find an upgrade for Heath at strong safety. Maybe Kavon Frazier improves or they sign or draft somebody.

It's sad that Anthony Brown has to be a scrub because he got the moves out on him by a top 5 wr of all time. Some of you are ridiculous

We are loaded at corner as it is....Scandrick, ABrown, Awuzie, JLewis, Carroll. This is only Jones 2nd year at FS.

I'm thinking for the future, when Carroll is probably gone after this year (I think only his 2017 salary is guaranteed). Jones is so versatile I don't think the Cowboys should just leave him at safety. If he would just force some turnovers people would see how good he is. (And I am being a bit of a homer when it comes to Jones.)

Then which one of the corners do you move to safety? Awuzie?

No, I'm thinking the Cowboys find safety help (though I like Woods and Frazier's potential) and keep all these guys at corner. You can never have too many in today's NFL. The Vikings did something similar taking Xavier Rhodes, Darqueze Dennard, and Trae Waynes in the first round in recent years.

Here's another good test for our defense coming up.

Note that 46 of those points came against the hapless Colts defense, and 41 came against the SF 49ers.

So we deplete our free safety position to have more talent at CB? And most times, were aren''t gonna have 5 cbs active.
