This is what I was thinking last season. He has Cam Newton, kapernick, RG3 written all over him. He may be different in size and somewhat play style from the others. However he plays a style that isn't really ever going to be successful in the NFL. Teams had a seasons worth of tape on him now. He just isn't ever going to be an elite QB. Add that with the fact that the o line has regressed in a major way and the d being garbage along with the coaching being sub par. It's going to be a long season. This is why you don't move on from a player of Romo's caliber for a guy you has a few good games. Say what you want about Romo, but he probably wins this game on the final drive. Teams were terrified of Tony in the 4th

It was best for both parties for the Cowboys to move on. Romo's body was shot and his replacement was here. I don't know how you can't see that.

This. ^^^^

Coaching and defensive personnel is the issue folks. We should have blown this team out today.
Agreed. people on here make this seems like a "we should trade for picks" situation. This is a "Go out and draft more defense" situation.

So he can't throw accurately from half of the field

Yes, because that's EXACTLY what I said...he can never make an accurate throw from the left half of the field.

How about learning to read first before you respond?

Goff was 21/36 255yds 2tds
Dak was 20/36 252yds 3tds

We must account for the fact that Dak has an amateur hour coaching staff while McVay appears to be a bright offensive mind who is giving Goff and his skill players every opportunity to succeed.

The way he used Gurley in the passing game? Moving Kupp around to match him up with Jaylon Smith? Brilliant stuff.

And Dak was throwing against a defense Brian Hoyer tore up last week.

Sure, I'll take more "proof".

i agree as well. I think Dak's ceiling is a decent QB, but he looks like a captain checkdown bus-driver type instead of a franchise QB. These are the worst type of QBs to have, because they are just good enough to keep you from searching for a better QB.
Yep, living in KC I know a bus driver when I see one. The horrible coaching/play calling isn't helping, but Dak must get better throwing from the pocket.

Look he is nice player. He is athletic. He makes plays out of the pocket etc but this guy is just brutal in the pocket. He does not scare any defense in this league. Not one. He has zero acuracy. Im telling u in 5 years he will be backing up domeone on anotjer team. Be very worried people. I know bash me and say im a hater. Blah blah. But ill say it again. I had to listen to oeolle here tell me he is a top 5 QB and better than Brady. Im sorry He can not throw the ball in a conventional offense. Jerry i pronise u is sick to his stomach. I know kill me and do what u always do all the time. This team will be lucky to win 8 games.
I don't want to even think about that but right it looks like that's the case. Zero confidence to throw in the pocket. He looks really really bad.

So you would rather him throw to someone who isn't open, which guarantees the game is over, rather than a play that was a foot away from a 1st down?

It was only a foot away because of the effort of Zeke. Dak had nothing to do with it. He basically conceded the game.

You're going to need more qualifications than that

Puh-leaze.

After that play we ran to EE for a first down. Then Dak made a great run because he got flushed out by the poor pass protection. Then we spiked the ball and for 3 straight plays we had poor pass protection that forced him to throw the ball.

Tough to make good throws when your $100 million LT isn't pass protecting and your All-Pro RB is missing easy chips and you're cannot get a throw in rhythm or without moving your launch point.

The only drive where he consistently got time and didn't have to scramble to avoid the rush was the last TD drive. This is a game where the O-Line had a good opportunity to look like them old selves and they now look ike the 2010 O-Line.

YR

"Poor pass protection" - the protection was good enough, stop pretending he had people in his face. We've been over this...

You are wanting the line, when they were sending heavy blitzes, to play at some unreal levels. Great QBs make great plays in these situations. No excuses. Stop.

I am glad we have all of this stupidity captured on this thread. It will make it much easier to pull this up and laugh in 5 years.

Dak might be the next RGIII the way he's playing.

The decision was made for better or for worse. Time for 2016 threads to end.
