My son's mom came here in the back of a white lady's trunk when she was two months old. She got naturalized at age 16. Is about to get her Masters degree from Azusa Pacific (a Christian college). Got her bachelors from Cal State Fullerton.

Her mom and dad are successful (her dad created and runs Ace Overhead).

Her tías and tíos (aunts and uncles) are incredibly succesful. Like stupid successful in swap meets and re-selling cars. They all have homes in Glendora.

My son is half Mexican. I am full blooded Irish.

I love my son. I love my son's mom. When I was married I'd kill someone trying to deport her aunts and uncles.

I'd do life in prison.

My little boy deserves to see all of his family.

I'm not political. I'm for humanity. And I'm also for my family. My son's family is my family.

Be sure he can speak Spanish. My brother's sons are 1/2 Mexican but can't speak Spanish. Other Mexicans laugh at them because they can't speak Spanish.

...your family immigrated too as "full blooded Irish". Think about that.

So I'm assuming her aunts and uncles never got naturalized like your wife?

People that are hard workers and contribute in society deserve to stay it's the ones that come over and abuse the system and create criminal empires that should get deported.. Bad apples mess it up for the good ones...

I commend your stance, Trouty. Just wish you could have seen the light prior and been educating people on the issue.

Immigration is not a federal issue, per article 1, section 9 of the US constitution, it is a state and local issue.

Further, federal government is not constitutionally allowed to own land outside of Washington DC. Thus, they have no place to build walls and borders.

Border lands were expected to be owned by you and I, citizens, for private use.

As such, each individual owner is allowed to decide who comes onto their property. Just like the white lady could decide your son's mom could be in her pickup, no difference.

The problem is two fold:

1) People do not understand resident vs. citizen. Immigrants are residents, naturalized residents are citizens, but they are 2 separate classes. You can be just a resident.
2) People are upset they're being given tax dollars as welfare. Well, how about we QUIT HANDING OUT WELFARE!

Problem solved.

I'm not for open borders. I country that can not control it's own borders, will cease to become a country. We are either a nation of laws that we enforce or we allow chaos to ensue. These are not hard concepts. We should be able to elect representation that enacts our will for what those laws should be and to have them enforced.

I knew you wouldn't be, Joe :)

But I understand everyone has their views. That's why I created the thread. So people can discuss it. Hopefully it doesn't get locked (not aimed at you Joe).

Can confirm, this is true in my experience.

I've witnessed this many times throughout my childhood and even at times as an adult.

Most people think they are made fun of/laughed at/bullied because they're half white but it's because they don't speak or understand (at the minimum) the language. I have many half white first cousins that are not made fun of or are excluded because they speak and understand Spanish. When we would visit family in Mexico City my cousins were always treated like a unicorn, it's pretty funny.

I am light skin with brown hair and colored eyes. When I was a baby random people would assume my mom was my babysitter because I looked like a white kid and my mom did not.

To this day I get asked if my mom is white because I get confused for being white or half white. There have been many times when other latinos would make that assumption as well and talk about me in front of me because they didn't think I was Mexican, let alone speak Spanish fluently (my 1st language.)

Sounds like a success story to me!
I don't think your wife and child have any need to be worried about successful aunts and uncles being deported. Not at all.
Those saying it could happen are just using scare tactics for votes.

On another note. Logic and common sense says that all nations should know exactly who is coming into their country. Not everyone has good intentions, unfortunately.
It's not remotely a racial thing. Just plain common sense.

I want to 2nd xwalker's comment that it'd be great if your child speaks Spanish. It's incredibly valuable.

I identify as a white guy but my biological father was Hispanic so I guess that makes me Hispanic despite how I look. I agree with you about the kids speaking Spanish. Kids are cruel.

I don't agree with much of what you say but this point I am fully on board with. We are not a democracy if our elected representatives do not represent our will and beliefs.

Do you believe they do?

Not in all cases. In those cases we should elect different representation the next time that office is up for a vote.

What if I told you the answer is actually in no cases?
Public will has zero impact on policy. In theory we can vote these people out right? Not when both people running for office are bought by the same elites. It really doesn't matter what you want or who you vote for anymore. Unless money is taken out of politics you lost your democracy.

Take a look.

A shattering new study by two political science professors has found that ordinary Americans have virtually no impact whatsoever on the making of national policy in our country. The analysts found that rich individuals and business-controlled interest groups largely shape policy outcomes in the United States.

This study should be a loud wake-up call to the vast majority of Americans who are bypassed by their government.

I've heard that drivel from you before and it's still as ineffective at convincing me of anything.

Please don't hi-jack Trouty's thread for your own agenda.

I'm not interesting in convincing you of anything. I've already figured you out and understand your capacities to intelligently debate any topic falls somewhere between my sisters pet Parrot and her German Shepherd.
If I wanted to engage you in a private conversation I would have PM'd you. This is a public forum and people who actually are capable of critical thinking may read these post and see another perspective. That's why I am here. Its certainly not to watch you struggle to explain your close minded indefensible feeble thoughts. That became stale and embarrassing days ago.

I'm sure Trouty appreciates your concern for the integrity of his thread.
He is a cool dude who mentioned you in a post above and danced around you in a clever way.
