How disillusioned with this team are you?

It's only a quarter through the season and there seems to be an all is lost sense among Cowboys fans already.
I think we are looking at things not turning around given our defensive deficiencies and the loss of Zeke.
Our once vaunted Offensive line has been less than stellar and has not allowed us to preserve/hide our defense and their deficiencies by consistently establishing the running game.
We may be able to salvage a winning record but could be left out of the Playoff picture.
Philly is playing well and seem to be on their way to winning the division outside of any major injuries.
There's still plenty of football and unknowns yet to come but unless we get on a serious hot streak, we may be on the outside looking in come Playoff time.

We are 2-3.......and every team except the Eagirls have at least 2 losses........none of it matters if this team doesn't start stopping and getting off the field on 3rd down.......

But the Cowboys as bad as it looks record wise are still with the rest of the league. Or the NFC anyway.

We are already on the outside looking in. We must win the next 2 games, really the next 3 games if they are to get back on track and show why they are still a good team and can contend to get into the playoffs.

Same ole Cowboys for the past 10 years.

Since 2010, the Cowboys are 15-10 at home when they score 30 points. A lowly 60 percent winning percentage.

Easy schedule? Playoffs. Hard schedule? No playoffs.

Fugly. This team ignored it's offensive and defensive lines for years. Now, they let Ron Leary go, overdraft Taco, and here we are again.

How disillusioned are you? I have seen to many teams turn around thier seasons or do the opposite for that matter. I am trying to stay steady. I still expect a playoff game but I am willing to acknowledge without drastic improvement from the defense (lbs and safties) and coaching we are medicore and our record will reflect as such. I expect Heath to be on the bench and Lee plus Hitchens to have a huge impact. If we actually managed to sign Bowman it could he massive. We arent dead yet.

@Jkyle Every word you wrote is true, but I'm always optimistic. What we did last year was so improbable that I'm hoping for some more of that magic. We would get the last laugh if the law firm of Morris & McFadden goes on a tear, helping us control the clock and keep the porous defense well rested for their bend but don't break heroics. Say we go 4-2 in this six game stretch making us 6-5. Then after Turkey Day we get Zeke back and all cylinders are a go. Young secondary is meshing and playing well, D-Law and Irving continue to give us a pass rush, the LB corp gets healthy, Dak and the receivers get some rapport going like last year, the offensive line finally gels and Zeke becomes Zeke again. We could wreak havoc down the stretch run. Wishful thinking, I know. I guess I really am disillusioned.

Concerned. Especially with the unexpected LB problems and he poor tackling. But not at all disillusioned. I had no illusions going in that anything was a given in the NFL. Too much parity, overall.

I have always held out for possibilities of the playoffs no matter what. Even in 2015 with the injuries and bad QB's, we still were in it until week 14 because the division was so bad. the Commanders won it by default.

Why have I always held out hope. It goes back to 1990, we were at 3-7, seemed like we were out of it. Then we go on a 4 game winning streak. We needed to win 1 game to be in the playoffs. We go to Philly, with a chance to win, but Aikman gets injured. Laufenberg comes in, we lose. We should have been able to beat a bad Falcons team the next week, Babe is horrible. I mean absolutely horrible. We finish 7-9...but wait, we can still get in the playoffs. The Rams need to beat the Saints....the saints line up to kick a game winning FG, the incredible Morton Anderson....he misses the Fg, we are in the playoffs at 7-9...no, Rams offsides, his next kick is good, Saints in, cowboys out.

Even at 7-9, airman would have played against the Bears, which was a very banged up team. We could have won.

So I would wait for 10 games, and any or most 3-7 teams I would not rule out since then. however that is being tested this year at 2-3 with this poor defense.

The difference, back then we were not expected to make the playoffs, just be competitive and get better.
this year, we were expected to go deep in the playoffs, even to the SB. Now 2-3, yes we are more than in the thick of things and can go on a win streak. Though my enthusiasm is tempered and I been way more negative than I have ever been. But no one can really blame me or anyone else at this point. Get 3 wins in the next 3 games, then that changes.

It is by no means time to throw in the towel on this season.
As you mentioned, there are a lot of positive possibilities for this team that can result in a good season.
But, the first five games have shown a lot of flaws with this team, players and coaches, and unless they are addressed quickly, things could slip away.
I just hope we make the adjustments before the playoff scenarios start working against us.

The 1993 season, after the loss to the dolphins on T-Day and the Leon Left gaffe. Jimmy told the team in the locker room after the loss.
he told them, they still have control, and to get where they want to be as they talked about at the start of the season, all they have to do is win out....or something to that effect.

Well, they did win out, including the Emmitt one shoulder game and right on through the SB.
So maybe this sets up the same way in it's own way.

The defense will improve as the season goes on unless we start to lose players to IR. Irving and Moore probably haven't got their legs yet and the rookies won't be rookies by the end of the season. On offense hopefully one way or another the Zeke suspension will be behind us by the end of the season and he can focus on football and the OL should be settled in and be a more cohesive unit.

With Garrett as head coach a bad season was really a foregone conclusion based on his history. I expected this when I should be expecting to be in the Superbowl hunt a year after posting a 13 - 3 record. Garrett is the epitome of mediocrity and this season is just us returning to the baseline of mediocrity.

Until there is major improvement on the defensive side of the ball, I'm not going to get my hopes up. And not just for this season, either.
