Deion Sanders fires back at Tony Romo's comment about his tackling **merged**

The days Sanders *****es about Romo are the days I become an avid Romo fan. I'm not always such but Sanders is just crass

I loved Deion when he was a Cowboy, and he was one of the greatest corners to ever play the game, but man he's terrible on tv. And why so butt-hurt over a throw away comment like that? It was a joke, get a sense of humor Prime.

I had no problem with Deion said because his snap back was factual.

Besides, Deion tried to take the high road but didn’t know the address.

Just seemed odd for a guy who never reached the NFC championship is taking shots at someone. Mcnabb is more qualified to work for CBS than he is but thats another debate for another day.

He is not even qualified to have that position at CBS so the fact that he felt the need to mess with primetime was extremely weird.

Honestly, if you've paid attention to Deion's commentary on NFL Network over the years when Tony Romo was playing, you could tell that he had a deep disdain for Romo.
When Romo would play well or lead a comeback, you would hear very small praise from him and Faulk. But when Romo would screw up it was "there he goes again" and they would go on and on about how Tony isnt a good QB.

Look at that clip. Deion was furious behind that fake smile. The fact that he said that Romo keeps taking shots at him over the years is absolutely absurd.
Deion and Faulk did that for years and Romo didnt say anything.

That game where Romo was invited up to the set when he was player of the game and had to sit between Faulk and Deion was high comedy.

The reason for deion hating Romo is because back in 08 the nfl network had the broadcast of the cowboys final home game at texas stadium vs baltimore. Deion and Marshall faulk worked in the booth for the game so they did interviews with each team leading into that game.

the sunday night before the final game vs the ravens, tony romo injured his back for the first time. If I remember correctly it was fred robbins who kneed him in the back. When deion and faulk showed up to the facility to interview Romo and others Romo was getting treatment and couldn't make it. Faulk and sanders took it personally and I remember them hinting that he was soft and didnt really have an injury but was afraid to talk to them because of the nonsense that season with owens.

That is the other issue, Deion and Owens were supposedly close and this was two weeks after the falling out when Owens said the white players I.E. Romo and Witten were drawing up there own plays and not throwing the ball to the black players.

so ever since then faulk and sanders hated him and took every opportunity to bag on him.

This was the game romo injured his back for the first time.

and then the game sanders and faulk called

oh and I love that sanders was terrible in the booth and got fired along with faulk and Romo is a huge success!!

It's funny to me how sanders took a passing comment so seriously... it's also very funny to me that he mentions his own career stats and shies away from mentioning much more than Tony's playoff record. Forgot to mention the Dallas records that Romo holds or the career numbers in general...

Finally, the truth. Deion started it in his typical classless way and now he's over-reacting to the seeds he has sown in his typical classless way. The man portrays himself as a Christian and a mentor for all the young players and I cannot think of a worse person for young men to emulate. The way Tomlinson follows his lead like a little puppy dog is pathetic.

At least Romo didn't say that Deion hit his lady harder than NFL receivers.

#toosoon?

Here’s the thing about Deon. Did he want to tackle? No...that wasn’t what he was paid for. Did he avoid contact and let guys who were there make the tackle? Yes. Did he sidestep and tackle guys by their jerseys? Yes.

But I can honestly say that I never saw Deon miss a tackle. The guy was a super human athlete. He didn’t want to stick his head in there and risk injury, but he always got his man on the ground. He WAS SOFT, but I never saw him let a guy juke him or run by him for big yardage. And for what he brought to the position, there wasn’t a team in the NFL who wouldn’t have loved to have him on defense.

good lord.

Mcnabb was carried by one of the best defenses of the decade and could not finish the deal. If romo ever had any of Jim Johnson's defenses in that 00-04 era he would have a ring if not two.

also, mcnabb is horrible on tv and has repeated DWI's.

Nobody is giving mcnabb a job in a tv booth as an analyst. when he comes on espn he makes stuff up because he doesnt do the work. Last year I couldn't stop laughing when he went on mike and mike and was talking about the vikings o line and how they were struggling mentioning one of their lineman..cant remember the players name but mcnabb said he was struggling and hurting the team.....he had been on IR for a month at that point.

Romo has been excellent in the booth and is actually becoming a must listen for fans of all teams. Saying he doesnt deserve the job because you have some grudge and keep pointing out about the lack of championships is asinine.

Wow, Romo was just poking fun at Deon. Deon comes off looking bad for even trying to respond. Very insecure of him. Remember when JJ cut ties with him for “business reasons” and how classless Deon acted, attacking the coaches for being incompetent when he truly knew JJ was the man who cut him.

As bad a year as the NFL has had, they need a controversy to jazz up ratings. A Romo vs. Deon deathmatch!
Seriously, I hope Romo continues to go there when appropriate and tease Deon some more. Deon came off as a bully and the best way to handle a bully is to double down on issues where they are sensitive. Deon is sensitive about this issue and need not be. He was a great player, but was human and not a perfect player.

Shame on you. Anyone mentioning McNabb in a positive way on this board should be benched, if not tarred and feathered.
(This was a joke, by the way)

The hiring criteria for calling NFL games requires one to be articulate. McNabb's voice reminds me of Fat Albert.
We'd hear that mouth breather sucking wind during the whole broadcast. On the other hand, he'd probably end up
getting stuck from licking the broadcast booth window.

Anyone who's followed football in the last 25 years knows that Deion was never a willing tackler. Deion himself has admitted it.
