Texas Church Shooting

So they said in the press conference just now that this was a domestic issue, not terror or religion based. So if that's the case i repeat my question from earlier, why did this person go to the Church to do the shooting, why not go to the families house instead? These are the things i don't understand about today's society.

Unfortunately, there are no logical answers to irrational actions. He was a twisted individual and probably no simple answer as to why he was that way. You can't make sense of the senseless.

@Denim Chicken

Muslim terrorists are true evil and should be stopped.... they deserve our hatred......just like domestic terrorists and serial killers and human traffickers and pedophiles..... I would profile the hell out of all of them if it helped stop more attacks

This is yet another one of those types of posts that skirts the no political posts on this site.

You say it is a shame that the death of innocent people is "politicized" in the media....which is another way of bringing politics into the topic after you just did the same thing by trying to make some lame political talking point about guns being evil.

KNOCK IT OFF!
It's too soon after the shooting for me to be hearing political board BS. You are sorely mistaken if you think I'm attempting to bring politics here. I'm still morning over the friends I lost in that church and so please forgive me if I find your accusation insensitive. Ban me if you don't like my comment which was not intended as you say... I don't care. If that is somehow your priority in life then go for it. Meanwhile my friends are dead.

I don't like bringing my real world problems to this board but in this case it seems the only way to get it into your thick skull that I'm not just an anonymous name on the internet. I have feelings and a life that is effected by the happenings in this world. We just had a senseless shooting in Texas. It's a big state but it's never felt smaller than it did yesterday when I heard about this shooting in Sutherland Springs and suddenly I thought about who I know there. I made some inquiries and sadly found my worst fears come true.

I thought I could say a few words on my mind just to vent a tiny bit but when the feedback from that is to "KNOCK IT OFF", I fail to even see the point of the thread at all. I skirted politics on purpose because I respect the rules of the board. But I guess I'm just as you said... lame. @BrAinPaiNt I know you have an obligation to control the content of this thread. But that obligation doesn't include casting insults and false accusations at someone that has just heard the worst news he could hear. I skirted the no politics rule... yes I did. But the pain I'm feeling right now makes me numb to your concerns. My friends are dead.

Christopher Leo Longoria replied: 'I removed him off FB for those same reasons! He was being super nagtive (sic) all the timd (sic).'

An Air Force official said the gunman was court-martialed in 2012 and discharged two years later.

Spokeswoman Ann Stefanek said Kelley was court-martialed on one count of assault on his spouse and another count of assault on their child. He received a bad conduct discharge, 12 months' confinement and a reduction in rank.

Stefanek also said Kelley served in Logistics Readiness at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico from 2010 until his discharge.

Kelley volunteered as a teacher for Bible studies at Kingsville First Baptist Church, according to his LinkedIn which shows him posing which a young child.

He was married to Danielle Shields, and they appear to have a child together. She was previously a teacher at the First Baptist Church.

On TV, they said he had made threatening email/texts to his mother-in-law

Hi, JoeKing. I'm very sorry to hear that you lost friends in that shooting. It's shocking when these senseless acts happen, but there's no words to describe how it hits home if you know someone who's life was taken.

I did make some posts urging people to avoid political talk. That's only about trying to prevent this thread from blowing up into a political battle. I apologize if that seemed insensitive in any way. I'm sorry this awful thing happened and how it affected you. You're in my prayers now.

I remember watching some old movies of gangsters pulling up in there cars getting out real fast shooting for like 10 to 15 seconds and then jumping right back in the cars with every intention of getting away safely.

I knew there had to be a motive to go to the church that went beyond a in-laws issue. Seems like its a mix between his dishonorable discharge, in-laws, and his views.

I say this as a supporter of a certain amendment, we either accept this as a part of life or some changes have to be made. Nothing extreme, but some small steps in some way to try to prevent this.

I don't feel like our congressmen saying thoughts and prayers and then hoping it passes over is a decent response. Or claiming mental health but then doing nothing to support any bill for mental health.

Trying not to go over that fine line here.

Blaming it on the fact that he may or may not have been atheist is ridiculous. It was guns. Cause of Death was guns and the motive appeared to be a problem with his mother in law. He went to the church because his mother in law was there.

He fits the same profile so many of these men do. White men, Domestic violence backgrounds and complete access to guns.

When you bring up an argument about guns vs cars or trucks killing people...that is a thinly veiled political talking point used by one side against gun control while the other side uses other thinly veiled talking puts for gun control.

I have been on this board long enough and have been around political arguments enough to read between the lines.
You can try to pee on my leg and get away with it by just telling me it is raining but I have been around way to long to fall for that.

I am sorry for your losses, we all have lost today as they were Americans, and I am sorry for your pain...however that does not give YOU continued carte blanche to post thinly veiled political talking points on this forum and I have gave many general warnings about politics on this board that I know YOU have seen because YOU were in those threads and I gave you a free pass...Just as I did in this thread.

Enough is enough...if you want to talk politics...do so on other forums, there are many out there that will cater to your personal political preferences.
