Cowboys need to draft a RB - they're easy to find

Easy yo find? See timeline from Emmitt to Demarco and get back to me.

Uh, Murray was a 3rd round pick.

And seriously, if the entire team philosophy is predicated on running the ball to keep a horrendous defense off the field, we shouldn't have all of the eggs in Zeke's basket. Suspensions aside, he could just as easily twist a knee in the first game next year and what then? Can the season with another excuse for Garrett?

We need to revamp the offense first before we do anything else. This scheme is too dependent on one or two players for it to work.

We need to get away from "Romo" friendly or "Zeke" friendly type of mindset.
That kind of offense isn't going to work with players missing unless our backups are as good as the starters.

Uh took a decade to find that 3rd td pick. I am way ok with drafting another back but just saying top end backs arent easy to find. As long as they are coachless it won’t matter.

Take a look at the Top 10 leaders in rushing this season and see how many of them are even 1st round picks.

Easiest position to fill with a Rookie is RB. I would keep drafting RBs between rounds 2-5 run them as much as possible on there rookie contract then replace that guy with another guy on a Rookie contract. I'd never Give a RB a 2nd contract. Unless you find a guy like AP, Emmitt, Lynch, etc. Those guys are rare though.

I am not opposed to taking a RB in this draft or even adding one in FA.

But if people are advocating for blowing another top pick on a TB because we are a run based team, that's where I get off this crazy train.

If you want to drop a comp pick on a TB, fine with me. At this point, you have a huge risk at TB right now with a guy who has shown an incredible lack of maturity and is one or two more infractions from a much longer suspension.

I think we might have a guy in Smith already. He may just need more time in the Offense. IDK yet.

Either way, the needs in this offense are speed and quickness at WR, a real deep threat. We have needed that for years and have never addressed it. We need to get a solid Swing Tackle who can play Right or Left, legit. You can try and use Jags at Guard or Center but you can't do that at Swing Tackle. Understand how hard it is to Find a RT or LT who can start for you. Then think about how hard it actually is to find one guy who can play either position at a level that will not disrupt your entire Offense when that guy has to steo\p in and play or worse yet, get your QB killed.

We need to figure out what we have at TE. I think we have some guys there but do we have the guy that will be a solid starter for us? I don't know that.

Those are the positions we need to address on O, IMO.

Rashaad Penny, RB, San Diego State
Height: 5-11. Weight: 220.
Projected 40 Time: 4.61.
Projected Round (2018): 5-7.
11/4/17: Penny has run well as a senior, using his size to roll over a lot of weak opponents. He is averaging 6.5 yards per carry for 1,368 yards with 12 touchdowns, plus has 17 receptions for 136 yards and two scores. As a junior, Penny averaged 7.4 yards per carry for 1,005 yards with 11 touchdowns. He made 15 catches for 224 yards and three scores that season as well.

For the NFL, Penny is a one-cut downhill runner. He has a nice build, but runs upright and could stand to improve his knee bend to run behind his pads. Penny may not have special speed or power in order to be a starter in the NFL. He could still be a rotational backup, but he will need to improve his pass protection

leading college RB WITH 2000 + yards

if I could get him after the 4 rd

Go look at any all time best NFL running backs list and tell me what round most of them were drafted in.

Ill save you some time. That would be the first round.
