PFF stat about Dez and Dak

Part of it is on Dak
Part of it is on Dez

The biggest part of it is the absurdity of our offensive scheme only using Dez for low percentage plays. How about we try to get the ball in Dez’s hands in space more? Slants, short comeback routes, short crossing routes...Dez is basically used for jump balls and a deep threat 80 percent of the time.

There’s enough blame to go around. Dak throws some uncatchsble balls and Dez has dropped a few. Doesn’t have to be either or. It’s certainly not all Dez, and Dak has done better to others so there’s some absolution.

In any event it sucks. But trying to point fingers is worthless. Hope they both get it together

BTW, what was the 2014 'uncatcheable' numbers when Romo had an MVP like season per PFF? 2011 is Dez's second year here in a Garrett, garbage offense, with no running game and play action. So hardly any real context...

That being said, 2011 was actually right in respect to other WRs, in fact supposedly better, so the stats today if we accept them as such aren't a case for arguing Dez has 'lost a step'.

Yeah, amazingly, I heard on the radio yesterday that someone did a WR separation analysis and Dez' average separation on routes was right there with the top guys like Antonio Brown and Julio Jones.
The leader was Hopkins....but it was by a tiny margin.

Honestly. I found that hard to believe. But that's what they came up with.
They lie cause according to the list written has better separation than all of the cowboys receivers.

It's still a garbage offense. They barely ran play action against the Chargers.

Would you like to explain to me why Terrance Williams is ranked in the top ten for catch percentage this season?

Dez is a terrible route runner. He quits, he pouts, and he never steps up his game when the team needs him. Dez has caught less than 50% of his targeted passes ever since he signed his contract for an average of 15 million a year.

Dez 2011 nine td's and 14.7 ypc. These are the most important numbers.

I wouldn't say worthless but it's hard to tell the story. We don't know if Dez or dak have a miscommunication and dez makes a wrong turn causing the timing of an anticipation route to be way off. Just thought it was interesting.
PFF hires bloggers to evaluate game footage (not ALL-22 film).

People have written articles and disected PFF ratings to show that they are often blatantly wrong.

It would be great to have absolute ratings on players but the amount of skill and the hours required to do it for all players every week is just not feasible.

Because a high % of passes thrown to him are catchable?

If you want to judge a WR...ignore target completion rate. It's useless.

Tony talked about Dak needing to trust that Dez is open even when he looks covered... and “throw” him open.

IMO— this is a big part of the problem. Without teams fearing the run and basically forcing Dak to throw outside and down the field to succeed— we are seeing a young QB struggling to trust his reads and fit the ball into tight windows.

Last year with Zeke we had playaction success and lots of open looks short to Beasley. Teams have countered and neutralized our passing offense by essentially making Dak throw more difficult passes.

We can’t win one on one matchups— and some of it is Dez is not playing up to his normal standards— but Dak is still maturing as any young QB would. It will take time.

The last 3 weeks though— basic pass protection has been compromised which would erode the play of even elite QBs. Dak has been sacked 14 times in 12 quarters... smh.

Been saying this all year, don't forget about the fade route (low %).

He was the best player in the playoff game last year.

Man, this is the problem. I was just going to "like" this post but this is outstanding. These are my thoughts also. I know we always say this but teams studied what he likes to do and took those away (beas and witt).

Percy comes in with the facts and lumpy disappears there's a surprise
The fact is Dez should no longer be used on the outside at all
Sure glad we paid him all that money this is why we have 20 something years of failure.
Yet we continue to try and force the ball to him that's another reason why we have 20 something years of failure
Let's hope it ends with a coaching change

Look at the route tree JG's offense runs and the lack of disguise to confuse the defense. This has been documented frequently yet ignored by many here...oh well.
