How good has Cooper been?

Cooper has regained the timing and technique that rust knocked off.
He's a bigger, stronger, different player than in college.

I think he is resigned because he doesn't seem likely to get huge offers and has a starting spot locked up here between two great players that are signed long-term.

What has really stood out is how well he is playing in run fits with those guys. His combo block with TFred are really nice and he's been able to stretch out to cover for TSmith as he pulls.
I like this, i would hope Cooper sees the significance of playing between Smith and Fredericks. No he wont be a rock bottem re-signing, but I would think he would like the profile and prestige that comes with playing on the "best Oline in football".
He has improved as the year has gone along, and an off-season with the rest of the lineman could really help.
2-3 year deal - only if they think Collins will stay at RT.
Still think there is room for both players to improve.

And, its all about resorces, draft picks. Can we afford to leave the Oline as it is (Maybe add a backup or two in FA) and use those resorces elsewhere.

do you work at being an A**** or does it come naturally? Beyond stupid is nothing to be proud of boy
You don't like the message so you once again attack the messenger. That's no way to debate a topic unless you are desperate and don't know what you are talking about... enough said. You got called out for a stupid post and have zero ability to counter it with any intelligence so you resort to tossing pejoratives my way and you don't even know me. I'm smart enough to start my own business and be independently wealthy before my 50th birthday so you're obviously off base by calling me "stupid". How proud are you for not defending your position on a debate board what-so-ever and instead attack me personally. That's a loser mentality and you ought to do some introspection on how you react to those that disagree with you rather than going through life writing checks with you mouth that you butt can't cash. ;)

The question should be will we draft a RT and move Collins back to LG or will we draft a guard to replace Cooper? Or just stand pat and bring in some late rounders/URFA to see if they can surprise? Build the trenches/keep churning. I hope we focus draft on DL/WR/S/OL/LB this year. I know its very early but do we know if any of these are deep in this years draft class?

Cowboys are already paying Collins RT money - and his play of late has improved.
Get the back up OT that is needed.

Cooper has been much more stout in drive blocking in the run game that I would have expected. He was known as more of a movement guy at UNC, but he's not as fluid moving as he used to be. He has gotten better as he has played more with Smith and Frederick.

That being said, there are two issues with him. One, he struggles with quicker DTs. He has a tendency to short set in pass protection, and can give up pressure off the edge of his shoulder because he puts himself in a position where he can't move his feet to react. In the Ram game, Aaron Donald took advantage of this repeatedly. Also, in the Falcon game, he looked like a much lesser player without Tyron Smith to his left. Yes, Chaz Green was a disaster in that game. But, one of the hidden examples of poor play in that game was Jonathan Cooper, and it was largely masked due to how awful Green was. So, is Cooper's play more a factor of being between two All-Pro players, or has he improved?

To me, I'd keep my eyes open for a potential upgrade, but if they brought him back for, say 3 years, $11 million, I would be OK with that.

I wasn't criticizing Collins play, just wondering if he makes a better LG than he does a Tackle. I guess it would all depend on who they bring in in the offseason. Although you would like to avoid having him change positions again I imagine.

so much of O line play is teamwork; knowing the guy next to you and what he will do and can do. That is why putting too much emphasis on when Green or bell was next to him is a mistake.

You sure are good at casting stones without a leg to stand on. I've not disparaged your character, only characterized exactly what you are doing. You are the one being an internet tough guy mouthing off without a single cogent thought that supports your position.
