What happened to Dak?

But that's not always the case. Looking at the All-22, there are times when Beasley is open or Witten, but they don't get the ball.

Second, if Dez is the first option on MANY plays but he's not open, whose fault is it that Dak keeps looking at Dez as a first option ... Dak's, Linehan's or Garrett's?

That's a good question.

I'm sure there's pressure on all 3 by Bryant to get him as many looks as possible.

We've seen what happens when Bryant isn't getting looks.

They can be, but they're also separate. There are times when Beasley may be open, if but for a moment. Because Dak is risk averse, he doesn't throw to Beasley. That may or may not have anything to do with Dez or Witten. Beasley may be the first read.

Could also be Beasley is open while Prescott is looking at Dez.

Obviously Prescott isn't blameless in all this.

I just think the failure of the passing offense lays at the feet of many, both players and coaches and it's impossible to say, "Well it's all his fault" (whoever 'his" is).

1. No Zeke for six games.
2. Poor protection. Tyron Smith missed time, played hurt all year.
3. Poor receiver production. Failure to gain separation. Tipped balls led to at least three picks I can recall.
4. Dak himself regressed in some areas (accuracy, ball placement). And I'm a huge supporter that readily admits it.
5. Poor playcalling and scheme.

2018 will let us know if Dak is our franchise, or if he's a guy that will serve as the placeholder for the next guy. Then we will need to hope that guy is the next Wentz/Goff and not a bust.

Dak was hammered. They have to address the O/line

He seems to already have lost his confidence. The question is will he get it back.
I’m not as concerned about confidence
Success breads confidence
Dak needs to work on technique a lot
He is good at throwing on the run but what he needs to improve is getting his footwork right when throwing from the pocket. Learning to anticipate the play. Great qb’s don’t throw to the open guy, they throw to the guy who is about to be open. To have success in the nfl you have to know is is going to be open before they get open
Some of dak’s bad passes come down to simple solutions. Good footwork, complete follow through on throws, correct position
Little things mean a lot at this level

our offensive scheme sucks, the OL has been awful at times with injuries, and WRs havent played well as a unit all year but there's too many times where Dak holds onto the ball for literally hours or throws high and behind guys.

OMG...

You guys realize that despite that 6 sack game, Dak is not even in the top 10 QBs getting sacked right? On top of that, some of the guys who have been sacked more than him this year have way better stats than him.
Why doesn't poor protection affect guys like Brady, Wilson, and Wentz ?(all have been sacked more than Dak)
Is Dak that weak minded that he still hears Clayborne breathing down his neck to this day?

Geez...

Garrett ruined him by letting him get sacked 8 times in that Atlanta game. I said at the time you can ruin QBs by letting that happen. Well so be it. Hope he bounces back.

Your examples duly noted. You must protect your QB. To say my god Brady ect got sacked more well OK, so what?
Our QB was sacked 7 times in one game. Unexceptionable. Period. Green and Bell must be upgraded, thats a priority.

I understand that Bell/Green are terrible.

I understand that they must be upgraded..

I also understand that there is a finite number of draft picks and a salary cap.

At some point, your QB is going to have to make others "appear" better than they are..
As I said, poor protection didn't affect those other QBs, so why should poor protection turn Dak into Tim Tebow?

This is why the saying goes, if you don't have a franchize QB, you don't have anything..
Injuries happen..it won't always be perfect.
A franchize QB steps his game up.

Then Dez needs to go or Garrett needs to go if he's letting Dez call the shots.

Fair enough.

Well OK if we must; your realize Brady might be the greatest QB to ever play the game.
Wilson is a five year veteran with a SB under his belt and known for his scrambling skills.
Wentz injured out for the season and the play offs not a sterling example
Wentz is otherwise a hell of a QB

Folks keep citing the "Well Dez was only targeted 6 times and had 3 completions."

But what they're not saying (or admitting) is on how many other plays was Bryant the #1 option and Prescott didn't go to him because he felt Dez wasn't open?

Probably a heck of a lot more than those 6 targets.

And Beasley is being double covered and Witten is barely off the LOS, then what?

Prescott doesn't look good right now.

But how much of that is truly his fault and how much is it the fault of the WR's and the scheme?
This makes no sense

This is why an NFL QB is supposed to be able to go thru his progressions.

Dak homer logic: QB is holding on the ball too long so must mean nobody is open. These wrs suck, we need new receivers!

Realist logic: WRs are coming open, but the QB is skittish in the pocket and has no confidence to make a big boy throw

I posted this on the other Dak thread. This guy does a good job of breaking down Dak's strength and weaknesses.
For some reason, we got see more of his weaknesses than his strengths this year.

Like other rookies(M. Collins, A. Brown, etc) that showed promise, more Dak went through JG's "process" more Dak started to suck.

Nothing happened to him. I think all the flaws he has exhibited since the combine were present last season and this season. Teams had an off season to study him and the League suspended the best player on the team (who should have been the 2016 OROY).

Back to the drawing board and try to improve on somethings in the off season like all great players do at that position or all players striving for greatness at that position do.

Yeah, I see who's in your avatar...

So I understand your response.
