I always find a nice eggplant parmigiana baked to perfection and about 15 minutes before you take it out....thinly slice some parmigiana cheese on top and have a loaf of garlic bread ready and waiting.

My special lady friend...

Adding a 1-Tech, 2 LB’s, and a safety would start it off...

With Jerry as the GM and Jason as the HC, there is nothing that counters that badness. My only answer is to completely jump off the Cowboys wagon and jump on someone else's. Go Vikings!!!

Jerry and Garrett crash in Jerry's new helicopter. They don't need to die, or anything. I'm fine with both becoming vegetables.

Most of us have the same feelings regarding this season. From early dumb losses, nagging injuries, suspensions, and then the offensive collapse, we can all come up with our own reasons about why we think this season is one to forget.

Here's my question. Who or what during this off season will help you get over 2017 faster. Jerry isn't going anywhere, neither is Jason. So other than those two, who do you want? What FA is a must for you? Who do we have to draft? Who do we need to cut? What has to change?

I could name 10 on my wish list but I'll just throw out a few and see what y'all say. These guys would make me feel 100% better than I did the last few weeks of the season.

1) Go get Earl Thomas . He wants to be here and he makes our defense better instantly. Possibly top 7.

2) I know he's another primadonna but I'm a Landry fan. This dude has 400 catches in his first 4 years. That's with horrible QBs in Miami. Even Dez gets better if he's comes to Dallas.

3) Roquan Smith is going to be a pro bowl player. If he falls out of top 10, we have to package another pick to move up and take him. Who cares if we give up the second round pick either. We NEVER draft good in round two anyway...
1 quality free agent would be a good start.

Cutting Dez would be exciting. It would mean the team has a clue.

Cut Dez
Sign WR Allen Robinson
Sign Dontari Poe
SIgn a better backup OT than Bell

Have a good draft where all the picks make sense.

Earl Thomas would be exciting but with only one year remaining on his contract is not worth what they'll probably want in a trade.

Landry is probably too expensive for what he is.

R. Smith would be good; although he is smallish for a LB picked in the top 20.

The other issue with LB is that some positions are cheaper and easier to obtain in free agency. A 4-3 LB is generally easier to find and less expensive than a WR, DE, OT, CB, and 3tech DT.

I advocate BPA with a lean towards the expensive positions (near-BPA).

1.)If early Thomas can be traded and resigned for a more decent cap hit price and not cost a 1st or 2nd I’m down.

2.) sorry I’m in the boat that feels you don’t need a top flight WR to win a super bowl. Give me a ground and pound running game and draft me a burner at WR who can keep the defense honest with dak just needing to throw it as far as he can

3.) I think he can be a legit tackling machine in the NFL who will look amazing next to Lee or replacing lee when he eventually misses his usual few games

Do not trade up.
I'm not completely against it but I don't trust Jerry to trade up.

I do think adding elite players is a bigger need now because they have OK players at most positions and don't just need any talent they can get which has been the case some years.

Who am I excited about? Hard to say, really. I struggle to think of a free agent or draft pick who is going to push this bunch over the top. I almost got sucked in 2016, but then 2017 happened. I feel like Charlie Brown after Lucy moved the football again.

Then why in the world are you a fan?

Why are there still Browns fans? I know some personally. They've always been, can't turn it off, but they're past the point of thinking NEXT year we'll get 'em. They need to see it happen BEFORE they can get that excitement and optimism level going.

I love Earl Thomas and wouldn't be against him coming here, but we would still be relying on Frazier to step it up. Thomas erases a lot, but at this point Frazier is not the impact type of player at SS that Kam Chancellor was. That's what we need as much as anything...a legit SS that can not only tackle but make plays in the passing game. Frazier is not a playmaker in the passing game at this point. And if he gets injured...we're stuck with Heath at SS and he's not a SS.

On the flip side, if we got a really good SS, we would have Frazier as a backup and then we have Byron at FS and Heath and Woods as quality backups. Again, not against Earl Thomas coming here, but there's a lot of factors that have to come into play. Oh, and we would need a coach that would know how to use Earl Thomas.

We need deep speed at WR. Something that D-Coordinators are scared of and they have to account for as they can't allow him to not be doubled. This would mean less doubles for Dez and Beasley because you can only double so many receivers. I really wouldn't have any issue moving Dez to more snaps as the Z-Receiver. Anything to get T-Will out of there.

I'm always leery of smaller, speedy linebackers that are stars in college that are not edge rushers. Guys like AJ Hawk, Bobby Carpenter, Myles Jack, Aaron Curry, etc. Jack isn't living up to expectations. Usually those are the players that are the highest risk of being a bust. I think Sean Lee still has plenty of tread on the tire and Jaylon started to look really good in coverage and got better and better against the run in the last two months. Smith would have to be a WILL in our scheme because the MIKE in this scheme requires too much of taking on blockers.

What we need to do is re-sign Hitchens, Lawrence, Martin to long term deals. We need to get Irving on a short term deal. We need to find a quality veteran DT and some help at RDE. If Taco comes along nicely, they'll need backups just to give him a breather.

I really wouldn't have a problem signing or not signing Thomas. If Anthony Brown plays the slot like he did in Scandrick's absence, then that's quite an upgrade.

But all of this is for not with this coaching staff. Even if they change some things and have a great 2018...they'll fall apart in the playoffs because they are not good enough of a coaching staff to be the upper tier coaching staffs in the league. And then come 2019 they'll get exposed again.

Getting new coordinators would have added some spice. Especially if it was made known they could implement their own playbooks and not just be forced to run Garrett's stale ones. But it appears that even this is really off the books. Maybe if we were told Linehan now had complete control to implement the Offense anyway he wanted using his own playbook I'd at least have a little more hope that something might change for the better.

For Free Agents, no realistic defender we can get excites me. Earl Thomas was great in the past, but I think he might be a bit past his prime and not worth what he'll want. Barring head case Odell Beckam Jr. causing enough of a rift with the Giants to get on the open market, there isn't another WR that is elite enough to help change our passing game enough (a speedy WR is great but a so-so speedy WR isn't going to stretch the field enough to really make a mark IMO).

The Draft is where most of my hope at real improvements lie. First rounder at WR, OL, or S is my hope.

Do you guys think when Stephen takes over the team he’ll make himself GM or he will get someone from the outside?

You must have read my mind because I was actually going to ask this question in a separate thread. I'm curious if Stephen will be secure in himself and promote McClay to GM as Stephen takes on a separate title.
