We hate on JG, some more than others and some even clamored for Jon Gruden. Why?

I disagree with you. You just can't go by stats. That's silly. There's many other considerations to consider. You know like the kind you complain about everything and everyone Cowboys.

Exactly. There are other considerations to consider. Such as the fact he has only 2 playoff appearances in 7 years. One playoff win in 7 years. Of active coaches in their jobs for 7 or more years, he's 2nd from the bottom (thanks Marvin Lewis!), of coaches in their jobs 5 or more years, he's 11th in winning percentage.

He screams average, maybe even slightly above average. At best.

So it's Garretts fault for the catch ruling against GB?

Gruden in 11 years: 5 division titles, 5 playoff wins, 2 conference championship appearances (tuck rule away from a 3rd), and 1 Superbowl win.

Garrett in 8 years: 2 division titles, 1 playoff win, 0 conference championship appearances.
gruden will have the raiders in a deep playoff run long before Jason garrett does. all they needed was a good coach and staff they have most of the players

The real question is would any coach do any better with JJ running around. We will never know of our scouting department was that bad or was it JJ picking the groceries. The things that get me is you draft EE at #4 and you don't give him the ball inside the 5 yard line? I know I am no professional coach but I would take my chances running it 3 times than I would throwing it. The coaches do things that just make you go what the heck was they thinking.
Remember when the coaches decided to throw the fade to Dez on 2nd and 2 instead of run the ball with Zek vs Green Bay. Garrett and Linehan do the same things over and over again expecting a different result. Another thing they do over and over again is refuse to help/chip for their OT’s when they are struggling. That is insanity!

No, but using that logic, he shouldn't even have a playoff win because the week before the refs screwed over Detroit in our only playoff win in his entire tenure.

So if you want to play that lame card, let's be honest about it then.
Good point. But you have to agree that he's been hamstrung a bit by Jones and his projects.

It's Garret's fault that we threw a very low percentage pass on 4th and 2 w/ the season on the line. It was a stupider 'n stupid call, and that's the truth whether Dez catches/caught it or not.

I had to turn off the TV when we played Atlanta. I could not believe they let one guy destroy the LT like that without getting him some help.

I think Gruden is over rated, would not pay that for him. Was listening to a Raider beat writer on the radio and he said besides appealing the fan base, the hire was about marketing deals and sponsorships to pay for for the new stadium. For those reasons he was worth it to Mark Davis. Is he a better coach than Garrett? That goes without saying.

Garrett makes the same mistakes over and over, and does not make the sum of the parts better. A 56% win coach regular season, a 33% record post season, makes the playoffs 28% of the times, wins 25% against rookie coaches, and has a putrid record in elimination games. Doesnt this franchise deserve batter than this fraud?

bill was brought in after 3 straight years of 5-11 and dave campo, another yes man. bill had more control. but in the end, jerry's continued meddling made bill decide to retire. then it was right back to the same thing. then a short stint for wade followed by garrett.
There are Some who believe, including me, who feel Jones got Parcells to bring back respectability to the Cowboys at a time he was trying to get his stadium deal passed in Arlington. Once he got that it was back to his puppet coaches.

The thing with Gruden is while he had success in Oakland, he was part of running Tampa Bay into the ground. He took a Dungy team to the Super Bowl.

Gruden is a motivator, he's not a team builder. Bring him in when you already have a team trending up but needs a coach that can come in and take them over the top with solid coaching.

Don't let him in draft rooms or around scouts.

I admit that Jones does not make it easy to win.

But Garrett compounds that by being an average to slightly average at best coach himself.
I'm not a Garrett home but I do support giving him another year. Lots off off the field issues this year and also key injuries.

I don't know that I would simply say that....of all the coaches in modern history that have come back for a second round at the same team, none of them have made it to the superbowl and their winning percentage is below .500 (heard them talking about it this am on SirusXM NFL network).

I think he will be successful, personally, but there is data that says otherwise...I really like him as a football guy and hope he succeeds; however, if i was betting and JG stays with the cowboys i would give the nod to JG over Gruden at least in the next 2-3 years

I miss the whole league.

Then again, the Pats have what we're talking about having had back in the day, somehow. Belichick really is the best HC the league has ever seen in my book. It's incredible what they've been able to do.

Yeah it's hard to believe we have to of the all time greats in both college and NFL coaching currently in Bill B and Saban.

Perhaps a Gruden coached team might have some confidence and play with attitude and a sense of urgency! There’s none of that with Garrett. I don’t see how any fans can have confidence in his coaching abilities at this point?? This team has been neutered under him. I fully expect the same in 2018 beginning his 2nd decade of folding and underwhelming performances.

Plus Gruden took a team that never actually won anything to their first championship. For some reason fans love to spin that into a negative?!

I hear this often, and honestly would need to go back and watch it again, but Im pretty positive the receiver initiated contact. (Ebron I think?)
