Maybe..but I never saw a hole, he was bottled up at the line almost immediately..every single time. They also have Hill and Bernard. This is one of the worst producing running game's in the NFL and has to be close to last in pass protection. Andy Dalton was killed all year.
not good.
wonder how much of a say Alexander had in who was brought in.
Im still gonna give him a chance.

They drafted first-round pick Cedric Ogbuehi and second-round pick Jake Fisher, who did not work out as planned, then they let Zeitler leave. So definitely some personnel issues but man...
The unit was really bad this year.

Im just tired of Bengals and Lions myself but whatever.

Bring them on I guess. We'll just get Bengal and Lion results and wonder why i'm sure.

So getting a offensive line coach from the Bengals means we will have the same results as Marvin Lewis? Vikings and Saints sure didn't Cowboys results after taking Payton and Zimmer from us.

Basically we get the coach of the worst producing O-line in the league and they get the O-line coach from the Dallas Cowboys..Bengals fans celebrating in the streets.

Feels like a mike pope/jimmy robinson type of hire. Good coach with a long history in the league maybe coming to Dallas for one last job.

It definitely beats having a first time OL coach whose main claim to fame is swatting DeAngelo Hall.

Unfortunately I watched a lot of Bengals games this year because I had Joe Mixon in my lineup. He had one 100 yd game. I've been saying all year they have the worst running game I'ver seen. What am I missing, does their O-Line suck?
Production was horrible with Mixon

Something to remember is despite the perception, position coaches aren't great when things go right and terrible when things go wrong. A lot of times it still boils down to the talent. I'm certainly not in a position to speak intelligently about Alexander, but I think it's fair to give him the benefit of the doubt that there is a reason he has had such a long career coaching O-Line in the NFL.

But isn't it good you got to slam the Cowboys for several days for hiring a guy they didn't actually hire? If you would have waited until they actually hired someone you would have missed the chance altogether.

The unit underperformed..maybe he needs a change, let's hope so. His unit was the worst in the NFL this year.

Simple Idgit. We're high on anyone that we don't hire, or anyone some other team hires, or some fans are. Same fans are probably higher on players we don't select in the draft. It's called "the grass is always greener".

Things to like about Alexander. Jeremy Hill is tied for the lead in rushing TD's from 2014-2016 (29) so his O-lines can block for the run game. Also the Bengals have been in the top 10 for sacks allowed for four of the past seven years including 21 in 2016 and only 17 in 2017. Want more? How about 14 seasons out of 22 when Bengals RB's ran for over 1000 yards. So his O-lines have been solid pass and run blockers.

Good hire based on history. We'll see how he does with 3 pro bowlers and 4 #1 draft picks on the O-line. Not to mention a work horse RB and a very mobile QB

Thats good information that about 99% off the negative posters on here dont have. Its funny to watch everyone pout and throw a fit knowing they havent a clue lol.

I personally had nothing on the guy so my opinion was meh, but thanks for this post. It sounds encouraging!

How does his blocking scheme match up with ours??

There were 13 teams that gave up more sacks, and 2 that had a lower yards per carry average, so I don't know that it's fair to say they were the worst, but granted they weren't very good. But it's not all on the O-Line either. The entire offense plays into those numbers, and all other offensive stats.

In 2014 the Bengals gave up the 10th fewest sacks and had the 3rd highest yards per carry in the league - so was he a great coach then and a bad coach now?

I'm not going to go back and look at team stats for the last 23 years he coached the Bengals O-Line, but there has to be a reason they kept him so long. A couple of articles I read indicated he didn't even get fired, but rather his contract was up and he is the one that decided to make a change.

Make sure he doesn't bring Sack Man Jones with him. And in "sack", I'm not referring to QB tackles behind the line of scrimmage.

Good info! Lets give him a chance I suppose, sometimes a change is all that is needed to get to the next level.

And yet you felt the need to ramble on for two useless paragraphs, smfh.....

I was trying to make a comparison. those for some reason saying he can't coach a zone scheme or handle installing a few zone running plays are being foolish. he coached under Jim McNally for crying out loud.

I didn't think they were useless. Here is my recommendation to you though, the ignore button. I am about to push it on you so feel free to do the same.
