What's the hurry?Considering they can’t be hired at this point, no.

Pull from the lower aspects of the coaching staffs. Why would the O-Line coaches make a lateral move to a team that missed the playoffs. You have to be realistic.
Basically we get the coach of the worst producing O-line in the league and they get the O-line coach from the Dallas Cowboys..Bengals fans celebrating in the streets.
Dare to dream. What if this is the last part of the process before all the winning?
Judging an Oline from sacks is like judging a CB on the number of interceptions he had....just a bad idea. The 2017 NY Giants allowed 34 sacks on the season....are you saying that the Cowboys Oline is only marginally better than that of the Giants? I hope not, cuz their line was bottom three this past season....the difference is that they use a scheme that forces the ball out very fast after the snap because they know their line is awful. Sacks should not be used because many sacks are not the fault of the OL...could be due to the QB holding onto the ball too long, could be due to a RB missing a blitzer. The better way is to look at overall pressure when measuring the pass blocking success of an Oline. Following the 2016 season (2017 not available yet) only four QBs (who also played a similar number of games) had less pressure than Dak: Eli, Brady, Alex Smith (15 games) and Brees; 3 of those 4 play in quick passing attacks which helps a lot in the pressure dept.
The Oline was definitely the NFL's best from 2014 thru 2016; some might argue that the Titans Oline had a better year than the Boys' in 2016 but they were very close nevertheless. The unit definitely took a step back this season (more so in pass blocking) but they're still top 10-12. The problem is we lost two key guys and replaced them with a LG who is garbage and a RT who allows pressure on a regular basis AND of course the disaster with Chaz Green. So I have to agree that it's false that this line took steps back after Callahan left; it has more so to do with the talent we lost (as it usually does).
Some fans should do their home work before making uninformed posts
Yeah the Moshers and Ickes of the Cowboy Twitterverse are pushing that narrative.I was trying to make a comparison. those for some reason saying he can't coach a zone scheme or handle installing a few zone running plays are being foolish. he coached under Jim McNally for crying out loud.
I didn't think they were useless. Here is my recommendation to you though, the ignore button. I am about to push it on you so feel free to do the same.

"Alexander, who will turn 58 on Feb. 12, has coached in Cincinnati since 1994. Going into 2017, the Bengals ranked in the NFL's top 10 for fewest sacks allowed in five of the previous seven seasons. Alexander's lines led the way for a 1,000-yard rusher 14 times for the Bengals."
He seems very accomplished to me.
"steal" him.
Cowboys!!
Garrett will swing at that face...lol!
We essentially swapped with Cincinnati, getting the guy with the better resume and experience as an OL coach. Someone who spends 23 years as an offensive line coach with one team must have been doing something right.
How do you "steal" somebody who was not offered a contract by their former employer?
Like I said in another post, the Bengals practically drove this guy to the airport to get rid of him.
I'm not saying this is a bad hire, but I'm tired of raiding teams that have no winning histories (at lease not recently) for players and staff members. Browns, Lions, Bengals .. there are a lot of other teams out there with coaches and players that have some post-season success that we should at least consider hiring. If nothing else, go get some college coaches from highly successful college football programs.
Good coaches move from one team to another all the time. 23 years is a long stint by any standard, much less in the NFL. This is about the least head-scratching a move as we're likely to see with this coaching staff this offseason. It may not be exciting, but they got an established veteran zone blocking coach to plug into a position where the heir-apparent to their established veteran zone blocking guy didn't work out. We could do much worse here.
I am just setting up Garrett's defense next off season
Simple Idgit. We're high on anyone that we don't hire, or anyone some other team hires, or some fans are. Same fans are probably higher on players we don't select in the draft. It's called "the grass is always greener".
Things to like about Alexander. Jeremy Hill is tied for the lead in rushing TD's from 2014-2016 (29) so his O-lines can block for the run game. Also the Bengals have been in the top 10 for sacks allowed for four of the past seven years including 21 in 2016 and only 17 in 2017. Want more? How about 14 seasons out of 22 when Bengals RB's ran for over 1000 yards. So his O-lines have been solid pass and run blockers.
Good hire based on history. We'll see how he does with 3 pro bowlers and 4 #1 draft picks on the O-line. Not to mention a work horse RB and a very mobile QB
