DT Tim Settle
DE Marcus Davenport
DT Poona Ford
LB Roquan Smith
LB Micah Kiser
S DeShon Elliott
CB Holton Hill

Our D would be very much improved.

If only we had the draft capital for such..... Nice thinking though.....

I take Taven Bryan but will end up with a Harrison Phillips player

or BJ HILL type player

but I don't see us picking one until the fourth round

Man I wish you are wrong..... But with our current DC, I kinda think you are right.... Hurts to agree on this....

My personal DT power rankings right now are

  • Vea - Haloti Ngata Jr.
  • Hurst - very polished player, uncommon run stuffing and pocket push for a college 3 tech
  • Payne - more risk than Hurst, but the guy is an absolute freak physically.
  • Bryan - fast as hell, great burst off the ball, not sold on his strength
  • Wilkins - looks like a rich man's Maliek Collins. Very smooth athlete, but I see a real lack of power and he doesn't have Bryan's burst.

If possible I would take Vea in the first and not look back unless Wilkens falls to us. I like Payne and Bryan but early second round. Maybe a weird trade down to get more picks if Payne and Bryan are the options.... Still believe defense wins championships and will not change.
AMEN.

Vea, Payne and Hurst are the top 3 for me.

A lot of the other prospects are one sided either being good at the run or the pass, not both.
what are your thoughts on Bryan.
I still prefer Hurst or Wilkins but this gator...he intrigues me.

Lol
Crawford rarely gets within sniffing distance of QBs. Try watching a few games.
He was 15th in the league last year in Hurries
Haven't seen the stats from this year yet but he is better than anyone but DLaw

I want Payne but I think he goes Top10

If he nukes the Combine, I wouldn't bet against it.

I think there is some risk with him, because sometimes he jogs it and he really gets sloppy about standing straight up. The upside is through the roof, but there is a risk that I really don't see with Vea or Hurst.

Yeah no one wants a 5 year starter that consistently gets pressure from several positions
This is CowboyZone. Unless you are a all-pro or pro bowler. You are a bust. No matter what round you are drafted in. Geez man. Dak sucks, Byron sucks, and Jaylen sucks. Anthony Brown needs to be cut to make an example of.

My thought is, and Ive been the president of the payne fan club all year, is that - due to his up and down play, he would fall to us.
Marrinlli could be that tough love coach that gets to him, and brings out the monster that played in the championship game. Give him a cool nickname.
One can always dream ...

I think Payne will fall in the 1st. His production on the field doesn't match up to his traits.

At present, there's like 6 guys battling for the 3 tech position and none for the 1 tech.

I would love to see Payne in Dallas. Say what you want about Marinelli, but he has lived up to his billing as a D-line guru. I've read an ex-NFL player who described D-Law as "the Antonio Brown of pass rushers" - guess who's coached up his technique for the last 4 years...

I don't think Payne has that much he needs to fix, and the upside is through the roof. Marinelli could easily bring the best out of him.
