It’s funny. The Steeler fans on Twitter have the exact same complaints about Haley that this board has about Linehan and the offensive staff. Uncanny.

Yes but they have complaints about their coaching staff after 3 SB appearances and 2 SB wins

We? Not so much

over and over again... I think Haley would at least increase Elliott's receptions.. that's worth it alone! but I also think Haley wouldn't be a complete moron inside the 5. Maybe rein in the young QB a little?
I wonder if he and Dez would gel

The main thing I worry about with is if Tomlin or any other top coach being available is whether or not Jerry's meddling would prevent some of them from coming here. And they would choose to go to a team who's GM let's the coaches handle the majority of the football stuff. That's one of the reasons why he keeps Garrett around, because some coaches out there wouldn't stick around to put up with Jerry.

They did just throw a 20 yard pass on 4th and a foot late in a one score playoff game and go on to lose.

They do have a much better QB/WR combo and take more shots. While also having Bell heavily involved in the passing game. I don't agree with going deep in certain situations, but this team takes no shots and uses empty backfield way too much. Not a huge fan of Haleys, but he is better than what the Cowboys have right now. And that onside kick was ridiculous. I see Haley as a scapegoat. The D without Shazier was an issue and the HC makes some headscratching decisions.

The thing is, Haley wasn’t there for any of that. Their coordinators then were Ken Whisenhunt then Bruce Arians.

Lol Now that was a pretty foolish statement.

Scott has zero playoff success as an OC or a HC and several former players will bash him to this day. Scott was 11-25 .306 as a HC. Haley has playoff success as an OC. Haley was 19-26 .422 as a HC.

well good for you.

Scott Linehan is a good coach. The fact that you are saying his players bash as a negative against linehan in defense of Haley is all that needs to be said.

Linehan sucked as a head coach. Worse than Garrett. He was run out of town on a rail and his players hated him. That took work.

Run out on a rail? Ok then. The rams got worse in the seasons after he left.

He took over a rams team with issues but also with some older veterans who were not as good as they once were. Kind of like Chan Gailey in a sense in Dallas in 98.

I dont know which players hated him all I really recall is the veteran wr's had issues with him. Big Deal.

I would take him over Todd Haley who people actually do have a problem with regularly and he also seems to cause distractions off the field.

Tony Romo sure liked him, I heard Jimmy Johnson speak at length about how much he liked him when he was in minnesota. Nick Saban hired him..

I stand by what I said, Scott Linehan is a good coach.

Now don't you go spouting no objectivity and truth here. Get ready to duck.

The Jets make the most sense tbh.

apparently PFT is saying they wanted John Defillippo from philly but they would not let him go last year. So maybe if Philly loses they hire him as OC.

After experiencing the wild highs and lows of the Mike Martz years, the winless St. Louis Rams opted for cool, calm, reserved Scott Linehan as their next coach.

On Monday, they admitted their mistake and fired Linehan after four consecutive lopsided losses to open the season. Defensive coordinator Jim Haslett, a fiery type and polar opposite in terms of demeanor, was given the unenviable task of trying to revive a franchise that has become an NFL doormat.

The Rams have lost 17 of their last 20 games, most of them routs.

Linehan, 45, was 11-25 in the third season of a four-year contract that paid him about $8 million. The Rams have been outscored 147-43 this season, and have allowed at least 30 points in seven straight games dating back to last year.

The move was made heading into the Rams' bye week and in the early morning hours Monday, several hours after the Buffalo Bills outscored them 25-0 in the second half of a 31-14 victory.

The Rams were 3-13 in 2007 and have lost eight in a row dating to last season. Dissension had been building after unsuccessful stabs by Linehan at a makeover: several new assistants; a remote training camp site; a higher-energy, upbeat delivery by the coach to project confidence and enthusiasm.

Linehan turned to desperation after the Rams were outscored 116-29 the first three games. Quarterback Marc Bulger, the highest-paid player in franchise history, was benched in favor of 38-year-old Trent Green. Starting cornerback Fakhir Brown, a Haslett favorite, was released and there were four other lineup changes.

Running back Steven Jackson ripped Linehan on his weekly radio show for benching Bulger, and there were reports Bulger no longer wanted to play for Linehan. Bulger has not spoken to media since the benching.

I’ll stand by results. And lack thereof. He’s not a good coach.

What has Scott done to make him a good HC? I think his only playoff win was in 2014 as the passing coordinator when he was working with Callahan. Please point to something that makes him a good coach. I wasn’t defending Haley I was just making the point Scott sucks even more than Haley. I know Haley is an A-hole no debate on that but at least he can coach. Go read what Holt has to say about Scott I think he called him incompetent, also heard stuff from players in Detroit now players in Dallas bash the offense.

Dallas just filled the WR vacancy with Sanjay Lal.

That pretty much eliminates Haley from any consideration, which I don't think there was any anyways.
