It would be great to get him here and then bring in Horton to be a secondary coach. You could promise Richards the head coach job if the defense improves but the team does not have overall success and Garrett is let go. Horton would then be promoted to defensive coordinator.

That was my best case scenario. But I don't think Jerry has any intention of letting Jason go.

I don't know. Maybe I am still annoyed at the season but I don't see how this guy can make an impact. With Jason and Jerry around, nothing really of substance is going to happen within this organization.

Hey you never know right. I'm thinking Rod retires when his contract is up at the end of 2018. It would be nice to have someone step right in when he does. I was hoping that would be Flus but nope. The Cowboys were willing to give Rod a "political appointment" to assistant HC to hire Flus and as a way of saying thanks and enjoy your retirement. Maybe it can happen with the Seattle DC. Hope springs eternal

If Dallas wanted to move on from MArinelli they would've done it for Eberflus.

I said during our bye week that we needed to make the switch.. They didn't do it.. Now at the end of the year they were panicing and trying to making Eberflus the DC.

We're always a day late and a dollar short on any of our moves.

It's clear we need to get rid of Jason Garrett but we will just be late on that too.

Unless Marinelli retires, or takes a dirt nap, Jerry won't be going after this one. That's unfortunate because the "bend don't break" philosophy doesn't create enough turnovers. We need more interceptions and definitely need guys who are good at not giving up 3rd and long.

Especially 3 rd and 20.

LOL.

You guys all know this is not happening right? It makes way too much sense, which is why it will never happen with the leadership of this franchise.

The defense already started to improve at the end of the season. So I can imagine how much better they can be if the Cowboys made this hire!

They reportedly tried and Eberflus said no out of respect for Marinelli so they need another course.

How is he a magical fit when we have a defensive coordinator?

You'll get another year of Rod and like it.

This guy, along with Ray Horton, could bring to the D.........sign him already

Ousted Seattle Seahawks coordinator a magical fit for Cowboys
If the Cowboys are serious about making their budding defense one of the best in the NFL, they'll pick up the phone.

One team's loss could be a tremendous gain for the Dallas Cowboys.

The Seattle Seahawks opted to part ways with defensive coordinator Kris Richard, one of the more talented coaches in the NFL. As luck would have it, bad or otherwise, the Cowboys are currently grieving the loss of linebackers coach/passing game coordinator Matt Eberflus -- who reportedly declined the team's offer of making him defensive coordinator on his way out the door to take the same post with the Indianapolis Colts. In one fell swoop, the Cowboys are now left to find a new assistant and a future DC, considering Rod Marinelli won't be in the NFL for much longer
Now this is a worthy article .Well done!

While I believe Rod has made the most of Jags we finally are assembling some talent . I’m all for bringing in a fresh outlook. But it probably won’t happen this year.

Good read though !

If you cloned Bill Belichick and installed an entire coaching staff of Belichicks - the Joneses and their country club culture of living in the past would still ruin it all.

Yes..

Im saying that they should've moved on from Marinelli during our bye week or at the end of the season if they wanted to make this move.

That's not how they operate and would never happen especially since the defense was improving. Say what you will but the organization is big on loyalty and treating the coaches and players the right way. They would never do what you propose in season to a well respected coach like Marinelli.
