Nanci Griffith with a heart breaking version of Townes Van Zandt's Tecumseh Valley. This was an ACL tribute show for Townes shortly after he passes away, there were a lot of great covers of his songs that night, but Nanci's might have been the best.

Elvis covers from '71-'72:
·The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face
·Early Morning Rain
·Thats What You Get For Lovin' Me
·Don't Think Twice,It's Alright
·For The Good Times
·You Gave Me A Mountain
·The Impossible Dream

There's also songs out there that are partial covers. When a band plays their own song and half way through starts signing a cover and comes back to their own song like U2's bad.
Elvis did that for his Vegas shows in 1970....he combined Little Sister w/Get Back.....its featured in the GREAT film Thats The Way It Is....Ronnie Tutt's drum-beat gives me chills.

Smashing Pumpkins - Landslide
311 - Lovesong
George Strait - Fly Me to the Moon
Travis Tritt - Take it Easy
Metallica - Turn the Page
Sawyer Brown - The Race is On
George Strait - Lovebug
Letters to Cleo - I Want You to Want Me

Not sure if they are considered covers, since the are the writers....

Willie Nelson - Crazy
Prince - Nothing Compares 2 U

I had never heard of these guys. I appreciate this post...
If you've ever listened to NOFX, it's basically them. I can't remember which member of MFatGGs is not an original member of NOFX but they are the core of the band. They cover EVERYTHING. From show tunes to country. Really fun music to listen to on a road trip. They're a surprise a minute, for sure.

I love some Elvis also. He was one of the founders of Rock and roll along with Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Fats Domino, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Johnny Cash.
Cowboys Congregation says...DAMN RIGHT!!!...and Amen.
