I see reading is a challenge for you. I said I didn’t watch Anyone else but Dallas play. Go away now.

Okay so you weren’t watching non Dallas games. Why even watch the Cowboys if you think there’s something fishy going on between the league and the team? You would be better off watching other teams play than the Cowboys if you think the league is biased against them. You go away and stop watching football if you believe the league is biased against the Cowboys.

probably been said, but lots of people watch on illegal streams and no one is counting up those viewers
Doesn't matter, they cannot make money from that and that is all that matters.

The nets are taking their lumps with technology and their saving grace was live sporting events that were not usually recorded except for a re-watch. Latest research shows the number of viewers using DVR's and delaying their watching for 15-20 minutes and then >>ing through the ads is increasing at an alarming rate. Viewership down and others recording is a double whammy and impossible to overcome.

The only solution that I see is PPV of some sort, maybe a scaled down NFLST for just your team or maybe the division. If they can't get more viewers and the NFLST is also declining, then they have to get money from people like us that aren't paying anything to watch. Because the only constant in all of this is that the NFL is going to get their money. The nets have been the Golden Geese up until now but that paradigm is shifting and will not go forward as is after this agreement expires.

Remember, CBS and NBC both balked at one time because of the fiscal irresponsibility but they reneged and justified it with program promos. That's a hollow argument these days.

Wow. That sucks. I saw all those games. Of course after watching them I sort of wish I hadn't. lol
Ain't that the truth? I don't want to know how many hours I wasted watching crappy NFL football this year but I know it was the record. Worst quality NFL football I have ever seen.

Streaming and watching on your phone have no impact on the TV ratings.....it doesn't work that way

Ratings are just a guesstimate based on a small number of surveyed housedholds

The people stealing the NFL Network are off the grid then and now
People streaming or cutting the cord are factored into the guesstimate.... that is Share in ratings talk....the % of TVs tuned into the game.. Total viewers is also just an extrapolation of a small metered group

But cord cutters still get free over the air HD NFL games on CBS, FOX and NBC....they just dropped cable and ESPN games......but ratings are based on the number known ESPN and cable subscribers so it constantly adjusted

NFL ratings are down 20% since 2015 and that is a very big deal for the League and TV execs
The NFL is still King but the King is slipping and in danger or being over thrown

I don't know which sport will overthrow them but they are dropping into the pile more each season.

2018 was going to be a challenge because of the live sports budget to the Olympics and since this one is already political with the Koreas and Vonn, the money is big. That has to come from somewhere as companies will steal from some other live sports to cover the budget as they do not increase it just because of the Olympics and that DVR issue.

I love the Winter Games and was presented with Bob Costas and pink eye last time. This time, I am hoping for the Elephant Man syndrome.

TV ratings in general are going to naturally be down as more and more people are streaming, cutting the cord etc.

If things were this dire, the networks wouldn't be bidding against themselves for the Thursday Night package.

So what numbers do they have that they aren't sharing with the public? I will never watch football on my tiny *** phone.

I'm not lying...it was only reading this thread title that even reminded me that there are playoffs this weekend.

Facebook can still be the king of social media and be losing members at a record pace

The same with the NFL..........it is a huge money maker and dominates the ratings BUT........ it may have also reached it peak and now losing viewers instead of growing.......the ratings dropping 20% in 2 years is a catastrophe when they need to be growing to reach the revenues estimates they laid out

They need to wake up and stop the bleeding.......making up suspensions for superstars are not helping

Why can't they? They still see the advertisements. Where the rubber meets the road is how much advertisers are willing to spend for airtime. When I see that report then I will buy into the hype or antihype however you look at it.

Ratings are really only a predeterminant for revenue. If Revenue actually increases, who cares?

cap projected to go up 8% or something like that. That is the best analog we have.
Those revenues are from TV contracts locked in 4 years ago

The ratings have only been dropping the last 2 seasons but they dropped over 20%

We will see with the next wave of TV deals but even then small increases might replace huge increases

Their is no good way to explain/spin these ratings......the drop-off is real and impactful

Not entirely they're not and the NFL just signed another monster $2.5b deal with Verizon a few months ago. That deal was an extension/expansion of their former contract.

Like I said before, when I see advertisers on net withdrawing and deals they sign start to shrink then I will buy you guy's narrative.

What impact? Your perception?

yes but tv ratings are all down essentially. when its time to bid on the nfl again they will line up to overpay because it drives their networks.

just this week every network was bidding on thursday night football.

that is where you fail. those watching other than live tv have options to either fast forward or outright delete commercials. I know a fair number of people who are willing to wait an hour or so and then begin to watch so that they can fast forward past commercials. almost all those alternatives are being used to bypass advertising in various ways.

People fast forward commercials either way and not everyone does it either way.

Where you fail is showing how NFL revenue has diminished. But if you want to point to a diminished TV deal or reduction in advertising revenue then I'm all ears. In the meantime, I point to the $2.5b deal they signed with Verizon last November and the expanding cap.

They can't quantify the metrics to the agencies. The ad agencies are only interested in real numbers that they can crunch in their post buy analyses.
