TO wanted the ball t go to him all the time, every pass, every play even if he wasn't in the field. he threw mcnabb under the bus, he complained about that offense. he talked himself out of SF and he talked himself out of dallas. and as for crayton, his ego was bigger than his ability. he was a 3rd WR type, who struggled. he went away from dallas and same thing. at some point, its the player, specially if its in multiple places.

A current Cowboys player compared Owens' behavior to that which led to problems with his former quarterbacks, Jeff Garcia in San Francisco and Donovan McNabb in Philadelphia. Those failed relationships and problems with the head coaches and other teammates led to Owens' exile from those teams and made him available to Dallas owner Jerry Jones in 2006.

As for the routes, he was a phenomenal talent, but was also known for freelancing a lot and changing up plays. The idea that Tony might have been burned by that a few times too often and looked to a guy he knew would be where he was supposed to be isn’t far fetched.

As for the meeting details, the fact that a meeting happened and was leaked could have been leaked by literally anybody who knew about it. Accidentally or on purpose. What’s not in debate is the fact that TO was a divisive force in every locker room he ever played in. It was no surprise it happened in Dallas.

What I don’t get is why he’d start this stuff up again right when his HoF bid is being reconsidered. He’s already facing an uphill battle because Randy Moss was better. Why roil up all the facts about his personality issues again? Kind of shooting himself in the foot.

It’s a reminder of the negative influence he was in every locker room he played in. Which is the only thing that’s kept him out of the HoF this long.

I disagree that play is the only thing that matters. TO was a great player and a **** teammate. He hurt some of those teams significantly. That matters.
