Rico would be great but he still has not made his mark.

We have made several attempts as we know to find Witten's replacement.

Now is the time.
No... we picked guys and then let Witten command the field.
This man, as much as I really do adore him, as a fan- needs to walk walk.
Fans of the Apollo know what I speak.

I'm fine with working in Hanna and Swaim until the defense is up to snuff.
Hanna had speed. He could run routes. He had good hands. He needed more development, but what rookie didn't?
We turned him into half the player he could have been. He's now a blocker, which was his weak-point, and jettisoned the passing game with him.
He coulda been a contendah!!!

We seem more interested in going after "intriguing prospects" at the position instead of talent.

Man... we have had someone in-house that's dang good right now, but we are squandering it to no end.
I bet even Esco was squandered goods because of the Progress Stopper.

There is no progress being stopped. Everyone behind Witten has not shown anything. Rico got hit and went down for the whole year. People with his injury go back a couple games later not out for a whole season.

Let me get one thing straight:

I know Witt is still a valuable and good player. He does things that no other player can do, but no other player gets the chance to ply their craft and learn from experience either.
I want him still on the team, but this coaching staff and FO just love him too much.
They can't get him off that field so that anyone ANYONE, even high draft choices, can get a chance.

So I have to go with the extreme answer: get him off the team. The coach can't get him off the field any other way. Coach is a Capital P.

Like you've seen any play from any other TE to say such a thing.

I'm sitting home and brought up the SB XXVII we won against Buffalo first time around.

Jay Novachek just killed them.

Able to get downfield..

able to shake off LBers and safeties.

Witten no longer does this.

Its been said this is his last year and the team is going to pay his $8 mil as a goodbye gesture.

This makes little sense to me.

We desperately need production at TE going forward for the offense.

The backups are strictly blocking TEs.

A true pass catching TE is on the menu.

Does this draft have such a player and when would we take one?

I know some think Rico Gaithers is the answer but I don't see him being able to stay healthy.

He's an experiment that has failed.

The chances of drafting a good WR at #1 seems remote.

But TE at #2?

What say you.

Who?
Yep, Witten was our problem on this offense all along. Let’s get rid of him and the Super Bowl is ours.

I always thought that of Bennett. For whatever the reason, we've stunk at developing te's and wr's the last 10 years. Coaching? Scheme? All of the above.

You guys think Jason Witten is a problem. Hysterical. Still one of the best players on the team. Maybe focus a bit on the man baby that can’t get open or the RB that likes to party to the point of incarceration. Witten needs to step back some and he will but still has gas left in the tank. Gathers is in the wing and they are going to address in the draft. Don’t throw dirt on him yet.

Lol... I look forward to more 4th and 2's after his 3rd down catches. I know you do to...

I do think the TE position in Dallas needs fresh blood, but unless you have a TE ready to go that is immediately better thann Witten as a pass catcher AND a blocker, it’s a situation where they may have to stick w/ him.

If they draft a big, young TE, gotta have the guts to start them if they look better

But that rarely happens in Dallas. Jerry would have kept Matt Flynn the starter over Russell Wilson...

Witten will sit as soon as someone is good enough to make him sit.
As of right now he is the best TE on this team.
Witten has never had speed or YAC his entire career and you expect it now?

Go back and watch games 10 years ago and watch games now. You won't see any difference in Wittens game.

For the record I am all for drafting a TE in rounds 2 and lower. Andrews, Godert, Hurst or Fumagalli would be great additions to this team

Yeah because the star RB is on suspension and the 75 million dollar receiver dropped another pass. You guys crack me up. Guy is second on the team with 1st down catches over the last 2 years. Top 6 amount TEs in first down catches in the NFL over the past 2 years. Still top 10 overall. Yeah he sucks.

Way down the list for problems.

So you compared Novachek in his Prime to Witten now, just to devalue him?
Look, I know you want to move on from him as our TE but that comparison isn't remotely fair.
Also, as has already been stated, til someone can take his job, he deserves to stay right where he is.
