So you compared Novachek in his Prime to Witten now, just to devalue him?
Look, I know you want to move on from him as our TE but that comparison isn't remotely fair.
Also, as has already been stated, til someone can take his job, he deserves to stay right where he is.
No..

I used Novachek as an example.

But do you pay $8 mil for basically a blocking TE with occasional 5 yd receptions.

He falls down after the catch usually.

Whats that?

I would let him go and retire.

Hes going to get like 30 catches this year for 300 yds maybe.

Like we don't have the players to do something more productive with his touches?

Time to make a few tough choices in the off season.

I see no reason not to use Hanna a weapon, other than Jason Witten owns those opportunities. I know Witten is a generational player at his position but this team has grossly mismanaged that position over the last few seasons.

Hanna we rarely have seen.

Again..Witten.

When Romo was playing he and Witten monopolized alot of the touches.

TO and Hurd complained about it, too.

Bennett left screaming about it.

I guess I know nothing.

I think it's definitely time to reduce Witten's snaps. The guy hasn't broken a the tackle since his Sleepy Hollow reception against Philadelphia. He can still get open but there are certain things that you just don't do. You don't substitute turkey bacon for pork belly and you don't throw to Witten behind the sticks.

I'm sitting home and brought up the SB XXVII we won against Buffalo first time around.

Jay Novachek just killed them.

Able to get downfield..

able to shake off LBers and safeties.

Witten no longer does this.

Its been said this is his last year and the team is going to pay his $8 mil as a goodbye gesture.

This makes little sense to me.

We desperately need production at TE going forward for the offense.

The backups are strictly blocking TEs.

A true pass catching TE is on the menu.

Does this draft have such a player and when would we take one?

I know some think Rico Gaithers is the answer but I don't see him being able to stay healthy.

He's an experiment that has failed.

The chances of drafting a good WR at #1 seems remote.

But TE at #2?

What say you.

Who?
Man,Redball!,,, if we do , I'll Not eat my hat,as my moonshiner buddy in Oklahoma gave it to me right off his head after I'd commented on it probably 9 years ago& it's my favorite that I wear everyday, now, understanding just how immediately I've taken my hat off the 'table' ALMOST as fast as YOU threw #80 GORICO into it!,,,
that cat stacks up impressively in his potential to Excel in a superior fashion should he ever be put into the fray,,, you really shouldn't dust off on him as a failed experiment just yet.
Truth be told bro!
I'm damn near mortified in seeing all these yearnings & wants on the offensive side of the ball in the first 3 RDS of this draft,,, I could be wrong
( probably though I think not) in my staunch conviction of belief in aquirring a refrigerator Perry type of run stuffer in the middle,a fistful or more of linebackers, at least one respectable safety, while maintaining what we already fielded on that defensive front line,if we go more than (1) one offensive draft pick in the first (3) three RDS,,,, well! I'll probably do something socially unacceptable like purchasing a heavy lift capable drone quad copter and start dropping full bottles of beer into that church parking lot that holds A.A. meetings on Thursday evenings:rolleyes:
Or some other such unsavory & nefarious distasteful activity expressing my displeasureo_O
You wanted "thoughts" RB express?,,,you got mine!

So is it Witten or is just the routes that they call for him? Everything is a 7 yard route for the past 5 years. Is he not capable of anything else or is the offense just crap?

Beat him out.

Who ya got? Ebron? Davis? Ingram? Two of them are strictly receivers. Witten still had more TD's Two are first round picks and Witten is still better than them.

Nobody has challenged Witten. He just played in the ProBowl. Draft a TE and let Witten show him how it's done.

Yeah because the star RB is on suspension and the 75 million dollar receiver dropped another pass. You guys crack me up. Guy is second on the team with 1st down catches over the last 2 years. Top 6 amount TEs in first down catches in the NFL over the past 2 years. Still top 10 overall. Yeah he sucks.

Way down the list for problems.
I respectfully disagree.

When your formerly best tight end and your once best wide receiver are both currently underachieving and overpaid, you're in trouble. Lest we forget, this is the same front office that once let our o-line, d-backs and d-line become among the league's worst. They just seem to lack the fortitude to do what must be done.

Let Witten dominate the playing time to nil for someone to try to get out there and play...

This team has a lot of problems, Witten's way down the list.

I 100% agree with this statement. I don't have an issue with Witten as a player and leader of this team. Rather, I have an issue with the front office/coaching staff and how they have continually mismanaged this position going all the way back to Anthony Fasano.

The front office/coaching staff has waisted valuable resources in drafting talented TE's such as Fasano, Bennett, Escobar, Hanna, and Swaim. They bring these guys in and only ask them to block, meanwhile Jerry is fluffing us fans with delusion of grandeur. Stop drafting TE's or start using them. Hanna performs at a high level at whatever the coaching staff asks him to do but is only asked to block with the occasional pass thrown in.
