I like all 3 of the DTs...Hurst,Vea and Payne.
I think Vea is off the board before 19.
Payne could be our Vince Wolfolk...but will they draft a NT at 19?
Hurst seems to fit the template but JJ hasnt drafted a DT in Rd 1 since Jimmy left.
Id love any of these 3 to be the pick.

It's not for a lack of trying. They wanted Aaron Donald, but the Rams were another 4-3 picking ahead of them. They've rarely seen dominant 3T where they pick.

all 3 of these cats are incredibly athletic.
Payne even catches TDs in the red-zone.
It'd be a game changer to have him or Vea at the 1.

It could come down to a choice between Maurice Hurst,DT-Michigan,Marcus Davenport,DE-UTSA,Isaiah Wynn,OG-Georgia or Billy Price,OG-Ohio St.......if THAT is our board....its gonna be a good night.
F/A will decide it....I didnt think there was a chance Davenport would be there....he's becoming a popular "mock pick" for us....it'd be hard to pass him.

I love'em...he makes a ton of sense.
Last year,pass-rusher was so clear to me.
This year...Im all over the map...OL,DT,DE,LB.
WR if Ridley slips....S if Derwin James does.

Hurst is not in the same conversation as VV and Payne IMO. VV is the alpha. Payne is a relatively close second with a lot of upside.

He had 1 TFL in 14 games. 1!!!! There's never been a top 2 round Dlineman with close to just one TFL. Only 1 sack as well. Im not a big sack column stat guy, but come on.

Payne's age (20 on draft day!) is honestly the most interesting thing about him to me. He's already crazy strong and pretty quick for his size too, and there's still plenty of room for growth.

Obviously the lack of production is really scary, but there is some serious upside with those kinds of physical tools. I'd say a top 20 pick is justified.

Mo Hurst, OTOH, is a 22yo senior, and with his body type he's probably maxed out. There's not that same kind of physical upside like there is with Payne, and he's much more of a high-floor kind of player.

You'd think he'd run across the odd TFL against McNeese State or something. Only 1 TFL his whole junior year is alarming

Payne is NOT a Vince Woolfolk fatty type ...... he’s a Fletcher Cox disruptor type. Payne has 10X the athleticism Vince ever dreamed of having.

Vince was the best of the modern era.
He is my measuring stick...Vea and Payne could be THAT good.
We'll see.

Hurst isnt a NT....but if you put them all in one group,I think he's the best DT in the class.
Stout v the run.
generates Excellent pressure.
Relentless.
IF Dallas takes a DT in Rd 1.....IF.....I think Hurst is their kindof guy.
