This is the first time I can honestly say I'm not sure Dez will be a 2018 Cowboy. But One thing I am 100% sure, he WILL NOT be released. With the thin crop of WRs in the draft and one, maybe two, free agents receiving tags from there team, Dez's trade value is pretty high IMO. No question we can get a 2nd rounder, maybe a first.

Another thought.....can we use his value to move into top 10 of the draft.....

Maybe Stephen can convince Jerry to give up hid rd 1 pick
No other GM is stupid enough

You'd be lucky to get a pick at all. First off Dez would have to agree to at least a 50% pay cut. Why is his trade value high in your OP?

So "grinding it out and trying to determine what is in the best interest of our business" is where we're at???

The decision has already been made. How they are going to sell it to Dez is the only thing left to figure out.

This.

We know how he felt about the Carr deal. This deal and its production makes Carr look like a Superstar.

Has to be done, Dez might throw a temper tantrum though.

Only way I could see selling it to Dez is to make up some excuse about needing room to sign a big FA to make the team better. They should be doing that anyway, but it would be a good way to sell it to Dez.

Thin crop of WRs? I keep reading that the draft is very deep at WR, and you can get a good one in rounds 1-4.

There are not a lot, if any, true #1 WRs in this draft. Not like years when you had guys like AJ Green, Dez, Jones, Calvin Johnson in drafts. Ridley is considered by most to be the best WR in the draft and even he's not exactly a unanimous #1 WR type.

This draft might be deep but probably deep with complimentary WRs moreso than true elite playmakers at WR.

So Stephen talks about not needing to upgrade the TE spot, they are looking like they may have a showdown with Dez where he could eventually be cut, Garrett and Linehan are in the mad scientist lab apparently revamping the offense for Dak..............

This offense is gonna be off the hook, yo, in 2018.

We all know what's going to happen on this. The negotiations are already happening. The teams MO has always been and will continue to be extend contracts into future years to minimize the cap hit in the year of extension. Dez will play in Dallas in 2018 and his cap hit will be less than it is today to give the team more flexibility with the Tank and Martin contracts.

This does not seem any more definitive than any of the other comments he has made about Bryant this offseason.

Right, this is just typical talk of what we have seen before about players.
People will make their own interpretations on their own feelings or what they want to happen.

To me this is not much difference then when he was to become a FA. Sign him, tag him, let him test FA. Only this time he does have a contract in place.

They pay him the contract, eat the contract, but still need to replace him even if they save cap money overall. But still need to spend a draft pick or pay a FA. Let things play out for another season. See how much Dez really wants to stay here if presented with a pay cut.
I see more of a restructure, gives Dez the potential overall more money as well as some cap relief for the team.

If Dez performs well, then great for all and he earns more money as long as he plays well, if not, the team can release him next year and not suffer as big of a hit.

I disagree. I don't think Dez has much trade value at all at this point, with his current contract. And I'm not sure it could be restructured enough for a team to bite.

They're going to ask Dez to rework his contract; I don't think this should be a surprise to anyone.

He's not going to take less money so they only option is tack on a few years and throw a couple of bucks on the back end as an incentive to Bryant.
