Do you think the Cowboys can be competitive (i.e., compete for a Super Bowl) with the following lineup?

OFFENSE - 24 players
QB - Dak Prescott, Cooper Rush
RB - Ezekiel Elliott, Rod Smith, Trey Williams
FB - Jamize Olawale
TE1 - Jason Witten, Rico Gathers
TE2 - James Hanna, Geoff Swaim
WR1 - Dez Bryant, Noah Brown
WR2 - Allen Hurns, Terrance Williams, (Deonte Thompson)
WRS - Cole Beasley, Ryan Switzer,
LT - Tyron Smith, Chaz Green
LG - La'el Collins, Marcus Martin
C - Travis Frederick, Joe Looney
RG - Zack Martin, (Marcus Martin)
RT - Cameron Fleming (Chaz Green)

DEFENSE - 25 players
LDE - DeMarcus Lawrence, Taco Charlton
3-tech DT - David Irving, Datone Jones, Lewis Neal
1-tech DT - Maliek Collins, Brian Price
RDE - Tyrone Crawford, Randy Gregory, Charles Tapper
WLB - Sean Lee, (Jaylon Smith), Tre'von Johnson
MLB - Joe Thomas, (Jaylon Smith)
SLB - Jaylon Smith, Damien Wilson, Justin March-Lillard
LCB - Byron Jones, Anthony Brown
RCB - Chidobe Awuzie, Marquez White
SCB - Jourdan Lewis, Duke Thomas
SS - Kavon Frazier, Jeff Heath
FS - Xavier Woods, (Jeff Heath), (Byron Jones)

Specialists - 4 players
PK - Dan Bailey
P - Chris Jones
LS - L.P. Ladouceur
PR/KR - Deonte Thompson, (Ryan Switzer)

Based on this roster, where are the weakest spots?

I could care less about being competitive.

Is that you Jerruh?

Its baffling to me how low the standards are on here for some fans. The ONLY time I can accept mediocrity is during a rebuilding situation. But whats more frustrating is they are NEVER in a rebuilding situation. Jerry always thinks he is one player away from a championship and runs his team with that short term mind frame. I am a big Celtics fan and you can see the genius and plan in Boston with Ainge. You know its all coming together and they will be a prime contender for the next 7 years. Here in Dallas I have absolutely no clue what Jones is doing. I have zero confidence in the future. Its like half the FO just tries to keep Jones from doing something stupid, while the other half is just happy to kiss his !@# and be there. Its a rudderless ship.

You're kind of missing the whole point of the exercise. The point is to look at the roster as it currently is, and determine what the weak spots are that need reinforcements.

Is that the exercise? Why would anyone care about being "just competitive"? The Cowboys are just having trouble filling in all the holes that sprung up last year on offense. Hard to fill old holes and new holes when your only real source is roster building is the draft.

Again with trying to change the subject. This is a PLAYER roster, not a coaching roster. Stay on topic.

You are missing the point. It doesnt matter what roster you have if you have some bozo like Garrett as a head coach. If you watched the SB you saw two great coaching minds dueling it out and laying it all on the line during the SB. Do you really think Garrett can come close to competing with coaches like that?

You didn't list coaching staff.

Say this in your head... "Garrett outsmarts Belicheck"

yeah didn't think so.

Watching the last SB and seeing great coaching staffs make certain decisions at critical times has really reinforced how limited we are with Garrett. If we're being honest, we (the Cowboys) are not even in the same league. Theres no debate.

They could compete, but they would lose a lot of ground by virtue of the loss of that infusion of young/relatively inexpensive talent.

I couldnt agree more. Jones and Garrett are the absolute worst combination together. Garrett isnt good enough to win with equal or less talent, and Jones isnt a good enough GM to get him more talent than everyone else. So where is the hope? I dont see it.

Getting lucky with a 4th round home run like Dak and rolling right out of Romo was a heck of a break. And the 4 years of his low salary is a window with incredible opportunity. They blew two years already on horrid coaching and horrid team management. Two years left before Dak gets 20 million per year.
