Dez Bryant's contract is pretty much in line with WRs of his caliber around the NFL

Alas, I'm sick of the Dez threads, but here I go starting one. I feel dirty. This may be a controversial thread, because it's neither pro nor anti Dez.

These players aren't all exactly the same. Allen had a really great year last year. Robinson had a great 2015. Dez had a great 2014. Dez has the overall TD advantage over the competition.

My point is that all these guys have received contracts since 2014. All of them have posted similar production since 2014. Allen is the lowest paid at 11.25 mil per year. Watkins (lol) is the highest paid at 16 mil. Dez has them all beat in total value. He has them beat in guaranteed money, barely beating Watkins.

Is Dez Bryant overpaid? Sure. His guaranteed money is a bit much. Total contract value is too much. But to act like his contract is absurd, or that he only deserves 4-6 mil a year (which I've seen suggested on this forum), or that he deserves to be outright cut is misinformed. And I don't love or hate Dez, but his contract is pretty much in line with the current going rate of WRs that post similar production. If you want to simply say all these guys are overpaid compared to other similarly paid WRs (Green, Adams, Thomas, Jones), then I can agree with that. But don't vilify Dez Bryant simply because of his contract.

So he has the least yards out of all these players listed the last three years(Bryant signed his contract after '14) and less TDs than Robinson and Watkins, despite playing more games than every single one of them in that time span. And these contracts were all signed after Dez's so you have to account for CAP increase.

So since he signed his extension he's produced less than the cherry picked names with similiar contract despite playing more games than them. Not a great look. This isnt even taking into account Dez likely out targets each of them handily.

Produced less despite playing more
Signed contract before them
And these are the cherry picked names

My gosh! Yet another Dez thread? Yeah!!!!

Don't feel dirty. All the cool kids are making Dez threads! Just like a wise man from this board said--this board has an insatiable appetite and the only thing that can quench it is more Dez threads!!

I digress. I respect your post, but if the team thought he was at market value they wouldn't be asking him to take a pay cut. But good post otherwise.

It is extremely true

It's not, its a ridiculous statement that can be easily proven wrong.

Im just going to continue believing you only follow the cowboys if you think that's an accurate statement.

Now I'll give you he probably leads in drops though

You can't do the one thing every receiver was taught since pee wee, catch the ball. Pay me millions, that ball would never touch the ground.

You have the right to be as wrong as you want to be

Those stats don't tell the whole story without the number of targets included with them.

Last year was the first time Keenen Allen had 150 targets, and he had 102 receptions

I didn’t “cherry pick” names. I made it clear that I was selecting WRs paid similarly to Dez who have posted similar production. That’s pretty obvious.

I also made it clear that there are WRs paid similarly to Dez that are better WRs.

And if you would like to see if Dez “likely” out-targets these other WRs I listed, I’m sure you can google it.

Picking out wide receivers with similiar production, to show someone isnt overpaid compared to their pears is the definition of cherry picking.

We would need a list of players that Dez outproduced with similiar contracts. It'd be much shorter than these that outperformed him. Edit: just looked, theres not a single player near his annual that didnt outproduce him the last three years.

Eh not worth it while im not in my office with my computer. I cam confirm in the morning that I'm likely right.
