Browns are considering drafting 2 QBs high

That might be a decent scenario for the Browns. On top of that, it might really make teams around them sweat profusely.
that would be stupid.....why take two QBs? for what/ hoping one works out and then you trade the other for picks? will anyone pay top 5 pick for a back up QB that didn't work out for them? they need a LT, they need a RB, they need defensive help, I think this is their ploy to have a team trade up and give them more picks.

if they do, its the stupidest thing. unless they pick another one in the 4th round or below like Washington did a few years ago.....

I'm taking Darnold #1 and either Barkley or Chubb #4.
Barkley is a superior talent takes heat off any QB and Chubb paired with Myles Garrett for the next 5+ years. You couldn't go wrong with either.

But if I'm them, I grab Saquon Barkely at #1, then hope Baker Mayfield is there at #4.

Dallas took Aikman and Walsh.

Ding...one could argue one was a regular draft pick and the other was a Supplemental draft pick but both cost them a first rounder and IIRC it was in the same year.

In a roundabout way the Cowboys did this back in 89. But they did it with the supplemental draft and getting Steve Walsh. Ended up working pretty good for the cowboys.

Well crap, someone already said this. I'm leaving this here though. just because I'm crazy like that.

The safest picks with All-Pro potential I see in the draft are RB Barkley, DL Chubb, OL Nelson, and S Minkah Fitzpatrick. So, if I had 2 of the top 4 picks in the draft I would choose any combination of the four. Preferably, I would want to come out of the draft with Barkley and whichever of the other three is there at 4.

I would rank the top 4 (Safe and potential All-Pro) as 1) Barkley, 2) Fitzpatrick, 3) Chubb and 4) Nelson.

That is not entirely crazy.

If you don't have a QB, you don't have a chance. The Browns haven't had one since Bernie Kosar.

Draft two, hope you hit on both, then flip one of them for a king's ransom in draft picks.

Again, not stupid at all.

It's extremely stupid.

Please people. This is leaked info because they are currently negotiating with a team for one of those picks and wants that team to cough up more than they are offering. The other scenario is they are trying to create a bidding war for one of their picks. They aren’t taking a QB at 1 and 4. Don’t believe anything that comes out in the 2 weeks before the draft unles it involves Dallas. They always seem to let the cat out of the bag each year.

But not the same draft. Jimmy felt he could trade one within a year and get back more than the one 1st rounder it would cost to take Walsh and he was right. Very different from taking two QBs at 1 and 4 in the same draft.

One was regular draft one was supplemental...basically same year. They did not take them 1 and 4...I think it wound up being 1st overall pick and then 2nd overall pick and when they did so they had to give up their first round pick the following year which would wind up being the #1 overall pick.

Whether they traded the player later or not does not matter because you could make the argument that the Browns could decide which QB they like most and turn around and trade the other the next year.

Now would I take two in the top 5....No...Frankly if I was the Browns I would not take any of the QBs with the top four picks they have. I would trade down a few and hope that Baker fell to me.

Walsh counted against the following years draft. So in reality, they drafted a QB #1 overall two years in a row. Jimmy calculated that he could flip Walsh for more picks than the one it took to get him. He was right. It’s not the same as the Browns taking a QB at 1 and 4 in the same draft. That would be utilizing immediate draft capital which doesn’t make sense. Jimmy used future draft capital and gave himself a year to turn it into more draft capital. Much much different.

I think they should take 2 QBs in this years draft but not both in the first. Take Darnold 1st overall, trade back from 4th pick with some QB hungry team, take Rudolph, White, or Falk with the 33rd overall pick. It doesn't matter how many starters they find at other positions, they would never be more then a fringe playoff team unless they find a quality starting QB.
