Archer Says Cowboys See Vea As A 3T

Good, otherwise they wouldn't touch him. Once here we can move him to his natural 1T position.
Was going to post the same.
I don't care what they label Vea, if calling him a 3 tech means he is higher on our board than they can call him a 3 tech till there lips fall off for all I care.
They would eventually line him up at the 1, and discover something this Defense has been sorely lacking.
Genius.

Kind of a dumb comment. "The Cowboys won't take an NT in the first, but the NT they actually do like they'd take because they consider him a 3-tech. Though, if they were to take him and play him at the 3, their other 3-tech who they also like would be playing the 1."

Whatever. Vea won't be there. If he is, they'd likely take him and play him in rotation at DT.

Oh, and the shots at Marinelli for not knowing how to coach defense are silly, for the record. Like, examples of the worst sorts of fan-think. Right up there with some (not all) of the criticisms of Jason Witten I've been reading lately.

They see him as a 1tech with 3tech traits.

I have said I believed that to be the case in the past.

S.Jones said they would only take a 1 Tech with 3 Traits.

The scouts have let it leak out to broaddus that they do indeed see him as having three traits.

Now that has morphed into they seem him as 3Tech...pretty sure it means what was said orginally...A 1 tech who has 3tech traits therefore can be on the field more than two downs.

People wanted to write him off as dallas not liking him...No NO No they said, they don't like him so quit talking about him.

But we had him for a visit and they have talked about him so that blew up that narrative by some.

Now the narrative is he will not be there...THAT one could very well be true.

LOL

This is why you don't adopt absolute dogmas in your draft strategy, kids.

They still have no idea how to reconcile with the Sharrif Floyd blunder 5 years ago.

Stephen: "Well, we thought Floyd was a 1T and we just don't value that position enough to spend a 1st."

Will: "Yeah boss, but... Vea is a 1T. Are we going to cross him off the list?"

Stephen: "Damnit... Wait, what if we just call him a 3T!?"

Will: "Problem solved! You're a genius Stephen!"

*high five*

Stephen: *s***-eating grin*

No shots at Marinelli from me. He has dealt with what he has been given, last year was his first blessing.
Never thought M had much say so or input in actual draft picks, but maybe they are listening now.
And... no way Vea is there,,, I stomped that pipe dream out weeks ago..

Long Exhale....

Stephen did not say he seen Vea as a three.

When asked about taking a DT in the first he said they would probably not take a 1 tech UNLESS that 1 tech showed 3 tech traits.

Brain, I hope your memory is correct and spot on, haven't seen that , but I will take your word on that.

“If you’re talking about a pure nose, I don’t see that changing for us,” executive vice president Stephen Jones said on Tuesday from the NFL Scouting Combine.

“I think we just feel like in Rod’s system that we can get the job done without a big, first-round nose, if that’s all he really is.

Now, some of these guys might be more than a nose than you think. They could have some under tackle to them and you’re certainly looking at them if that’s the case. Obviously that under tackle position is a big one for us.”

Your sources seem to be singing a different tune as to what Archer is reporting in the OP link;

"The Cowboys see him as an undertackle."

Are you claiming he's wrong?

I am claiming When Broaddus asked the scouts if they think Vea has 3 tech traits he was told YES.

That combined with Stephen Jones saying no first round NTs unless they should three traits.

With the Cowboys bringing him in for a visit.

With Vea being a NT...with 3 traits...

Means they see him as NT who has 3 traits...not just a 3 tech player.

In other words I think archer took it one step to far in thinking they see him as only a 3tech vs a NT with 3tech traits.

And my point is how ridiculous this semantics exercise is.

You think Vea is the only one to come along who fits that bill? Most interior DL who get selected in the 1st Round have traits to play 3T.

Ya man,, that's like saying,, that EE, he sure can run the ball hard, but maybe he can actually catch out of the backfield also.
You can bring a multi talented elite talent into the house, but can you exonerate those talents.

A 3 tech who has had no real success sacking the QB in college. Ummm....I don't think so.

The Cowboys won't draft Vea. I'd be shocked. I think he'll get picked by a 3-4 team as a nose tackle if he goes in the top 15.

More than likely
