This year I am worried about our pick

We haven't really blown a first-round pick since 2012 when we selected Claiborne ... and the previous two were Bryant and Tyron Smith, so we've gotten five Pro Bowlers and two players the jury is still out on (Byron Jones, Charlton) in the last eight drafts. Even Claiborne came on after injuries helped sidetrack him, although he's still a blown pick.

There are too many fans who think they know what the best choice is for the team or how certain players are going to turn out. If you ignore all that and just wait to see, you'll have a much more peaceful draft experience.
Sure. However, that's taking for granted that everyone else has the same views and desires that you do. Many enjoy the studying and discussing. If you don't, I'm actually not quite sure why you're here, as that's what this place is for.

it’s been a few years since I was worried about who we picked. I haven’t always agreed with who we’ve picked each year but there was a good argument for the pick.
This year I’m worried we could really blow it.

Well if you are worried go sit on the toilet!

actually Mo was a good pick at the time, it just did not pan out like they wanted, and as many fans over dramatize it 6 years later.

No he was not
MANY of us were against it at that time
You don't trade up into the top 10 for a CB and definitely not for a player you did not bring for a visit
Stupid move by an idiot GM

No he did not fail. It was a diluted sample. Said he will address it with teams before the draft. Said he was over hydrated.
True or not who knows. But it was NOT a failed test.
not according to Total Access last night. They reported that he admitted smoking before the draft.

Yea but said it was weeks before. Another lie. If it was more than a week he would have passed.

And especially for a guy w/o a superior skillset.

I read and read and reread and studied the scouting report on Mo, and it read like a 3rd round talent. I have no idea what the scouts were thinking.

He did not fail, you all need to get your facts straight before posting off at the keyboard...it was a diluted sample...meaning they can't tell one way or another.
I get your point, but I gotta say, I have been taking urinalysis tests for about 25 years now. required by my industry. I have yet to see anyone fail due to diluted sample. I have seen people get caught with whizinators, and all kinds of underhanded shenanigans, but never had anyone say they failed due to that.

This draft will be known as the Earl Thomas draft. Cowboys are gonna trade down from 19 for a first and third, take a WR late in round 1, then trade a 2nd and 3rd for Thomas.

It's a tough year to gauge. We've got several obvious needs, I could be ok with filling any of them....with the right player. But we're also connected in the media with a bunch of guys who either aren't sure things or who I don't really like. Plus there's the prospect of trading a 2 or a 3 for Thomas that throws a wrench into a bunch of draft scenarios and makes it hard to figure what the Cowboys are really going to do. And with that uncertainty comes worry.

I'm expecting to be fairly unimpressed with round 1 today. But at least the top of the draft will be awesome to watch. In the end, the years where I love the picks often don't turn out to be our best drafts, so I'm not going to get worked up until we get to camp and see what we've really got. Then I plan on going ape****.

Me too. I actually have no idea what we're going to do.

 I'm glad you're already lowering expectations like any good Jerry fan

Depends on the year. I had high expectations in 2016, and hated the Elliott pick. I was worried we were in a tough spot last year and was underwhelmed with the Charlton pick after the first dozen or so picks broke great for us.

This year, we've got more directions we might go, and there ought to be reasonably-slotted players to choose from at at least LB and OG, maybe at WR. It just happens to be that there are players at each of those spots we're connected to that I don't love.

As for lowering expectations, that's not really how I look at building the team in the first place, so I'm not really prone to massive overreactions one way or another with draft picks. It takes time to see what kind of players you get, and they have to be developed. So I tend to leave the gnashing of teeth and the rending of flesh to the RealistsTM.

Any number of players can fit a need at 19 Conner. No worries.
