This year I am worried about our pick

No he did not fail. It was a diluted sample. Said he will address it with teams before the draft. Said he was over hydrated.
True or not who knows. But it was NOT a failed test.

Didn't Reuben Foster use that line "diluted sample". seems to me he did, now look at the fool

Last year we were all worried that we would take that bum safety from A&M in round one

Dallas media has been lost on our draft plans for a few years now
Fisher was all over our plans for round 1 two years ago. Said we would pick Zeke and then try to trade back into the first round for Paxton Lynch...

If they go OL, they're golden but then that's the safest pick there is and they've done really well at it. And they could be looking at this being Martin's last year. I am OK with OL or DL or LB. Don't want WR.

A certain % of the 1st rounder's will bust out and I am still not sold we got 1st round value for Jones or Charleton but I recall what Parcells said and that changed my thinking a little as it made perfect sense.

He was in a pc and they kept going on with questions about where a player was picked and he just said flat out "that doesn't matter" and mainly said that is fabricated by the media. It is only important that the player fit the position regardless of where he was picked. And had two players that he took a gamble on, Peterman and Rogers in rounds 2 and 3, panned out he would have been more successful.

This draft will be no different than any other. Some 1sts will bust and some 5th rounder's will go to the pb. Parcells prided himself on the later rounds where the real nuggets are. Unless we just got nuts, most of us here could pick the 1st rounder and be pretty safe. Beyond that, ya gotta go to school on these guys.

The key to this draft is not really the 1st because we didn't get much from last year's 1st. It is how many can we come away with that can play now and contribute? And they have to play now and not just ST's. In last year's draft, I have penciled in 2 players that will out perform the 1st taken. And I don't fault the FO, Charleton was supposed to go in the 1st and they needed a DE. But I feel Awuzie and Lewis will be better players and there could even be an additional 1 or 2 better. But I think what if Charleton is worth that 1st? Man, getting a starting DE and two CB's in one draft is damned good pickin!

That was not leading up to the draft

If I recall correctly...the real Zeke news didn't really break until the day of the draft..he was in the "mix" leading up..but he wasn't the guy until the day of

All the Lynch talk definitely wasn't a thing until the draft had already begun

you can't afford to have first-round picks turn out like Claiborne did.

And how do you know when you draft him he'll "turn out" like he did? You don't. You're using a classic case of 20-20 hindsight.

But if that's your definition, fine, but I don't agree with it...

Me too. I actually have no idea what we're going to do.
Anything semi smart will do. Don’t trade away a early pick in order to get a safety we will pay 10 million a year. Don’t get a WR that’s not gonna immediately impact the team. Get a DT or player that will change me in and contribute.

Same here. LB or DT or OL. Safe and likely immediate impact. I prefer DT or LB. if there is still a great choice worthy of the pick. If not then trade down a few spots and pick up another high rounder. Don’t trade it away for Thomas.

More worried about what we do in the 2nd round, that's where we have had problems

it’s been a few years since I was worried about who we picked. I haven’t always agreed with who we’ve picked each year but there was a good argument for the pick.
This year I’m worried we could really blow it.
Acording to your old post you worry every year about the first pick so stop lying. You had reservations about Taco and Zeke.

Not how I remember it. I told my coworkers I was prepared to swan dive off 121 and 75 if we drafted Zeke then traded back into the first round for Paxton Lynch. Left work that day at 5...

Agree, they want to much and I don't like the way Thomas went about that. What a tool.

The bad news is: EVERY year they can blow it. So this year is no different. Hopefully they actually looked at prospects during the offseason and decided who would/could be the best fit for them...

Dang you must have had to get talked down during then end of round one.

How else do we know if a pick is blown?

There were many here who thought taking Travis Frederick was a blown pick because pundits didn't have him rated as highly as where the Cowboys selected him. Some were crying that he was a third-round value. Turns out he was an absolute value pick.

Just because a player is taken where scouts and draft experts say he should be taken doesn't mean it isn't a blown pick. We don't know at the time that Felix Jones and Mike Jenkins were going to turn out the way they did. They also were taken about where they were expected to go in the first round, but they are one-contract blown picks as well.

Give me an example where we didn't need hindsight to determine if a pick was blown. Even Randy Gregory was considered a value pick when we selected him as a second-rounder. No one knew that his problems with pot were this extensive.

They all knew I was joking, but I was very happy when we did not get Lynch. I would have never heard the end of it at work. Got a few texts asking if I was on my way lol
