I'm not so sure about that. I think it allows us to move Jaylon to the outside as we now have a truer interior LB.
Jaylon was drafted to start in the middle. He is not close to the player he was in college still has drop foot to some degree. Only our idiot owner can make these ****** 2nd round picks. If it was a real GM who wanted his job he wouldn't make that pick.

Of course he’s replacing Lee. But that’s what Jaylon was supposed to do. Maybe we can make Smith into a strongside backer but I’m skeptical.
I think when they are in the nickel....its gonna be Smith and LVE out there regardless. Well....once Lee can't go anymore.

So being a physical , hard hitter is not in style now? If you can't hit and have some kind of physical presence, LB is not your best position. If what you say is true, teams need to just draft more DBs and play them at the LB position.
And then OLinemen push them down like rag dolls

Urlacher's are hard to find and we got one

I love the pick, and i understand the risk. But he is a Cowboy and I hope every other Cowboy fan hopes he is Urlacher 2.0.

I understand some don't like it, but at the end of the day we cheer for the same players!

In the nickel, Smith can play SS. He's definitely fast enough and, do we have a better option? We have Woods at FS and then what? Unless we get ET tomorrow.

Its called a 4-3

look it up if you need to, to see how many linebackers that is.
Yes and no. It's a nickel league. But how many years does Lee honestly have left? Smith is the heir apparent to Lee at WLB, and Smith has cornerback speed.

Counterpoint, I think it was found that he's better at OLB. He's more suited to being able to rush the passer and covering TEs. So, he's now able to be put to a position of better use, while using LVE who is a sensational choice at ILB.

I hope they prove me wrong. The big reason we took this pick is marinelli. With LVE he can run his trash Tampa 2 scheme more that every team has learned to slaughter 15 years ago.

Maybe, but I think you can agree that we have long needed speed on this defense, and that's one of the many benefits of LVE.
