'People?' People, as in the Board of Selectors for the Pro Football Hall of Fame? Those people? The same people I mentioned on this board several times would not make Terrell Owens a first-ballot inductee? And I said that eventuality over a decade before Owens was initially eligible for induction. Those 'people' people?

Witten has the numbers and he is a poster boy for the National Football League. It is a done deal. I will repeat the same thing I said for Owens way back when:

"See you in five years." ;):p
"It's a process." :D

This guy is a Douchebag if he thinks JW isn't 1st ballot

He was a great player but didn't revolutionize the tight end position
Jason Witten is definitely a Hall of Famer, but I don't think he's first-ballot. First-ballot status should be reserved for the game-changers and revolutionaries at a certain position, and I don't see him as that. He is an excellent player with longevity and consistent production throughout his career. Yet, I'm not convinced that he revolutionized the position like some of the guys who have gone in before him. I give him credit as being a "gold jacket guy," just not the denotation of being first-ballot.

Wishing him continued success in his new role.

I can't be mad one ounce at him given the variables. Play another year for less than 2 mil and again risk possible major injury or go sit in a booth and bloviate for over 4 mil per.. hmmm

He gave Dallas everything. Class guy. Period.

Yup, he's an absolute legend! Thank you Witten for all that you've done for this team. Good luck on your future endeavors.

Alot of people around here are going to understand this season what it meant to have a HOF TE playing every game for us for the last 15 seasons.
You may find yourself repeatedly typing the same thing about different topics in the future. To save time, I recommend saving:

A lot of people around here are going to understand <fill in the blank>.
...in a handy text file and just copying-and-pasting the text whenever necessary, which you may find necessary doing quite often.

I agree. It is sad. I'm sure we will spawn plenty of threads dissecting the potential reason why they never won at least one together. They should have.

1st ballot for JWitt? That would be sweet.

What's the soonest that someone is allowed to be inducted into the ROH? Because it would be great if we could do it when we're playing Tennessee this year. I mean, Witten's from Tennessee, and played for about 15 years here as one of the best TEs in NFL history. I think that would be the right night to induct him into the ROH along with Romo. Induct them in together like Irvin, Smith, and Aikman were.

Time for the big boys to stop bailing out Garrett and see if Garrett can ride the big boy bike.

Witten gave everything to this organization and that great organization returned nothing to a guy who left nothing on the field. No job was to hard, no coach to tough , no opponent he wouldnt stare down. He played the game as it should be, with a few hiccups sure he wasnt flawless but he gave it his heart.

Witten like other players proved the combine is not a perfect science. Since its creation and to this day, the combine cant measure heart and Witten has a lot of heart.

A great player, at the wrong era for an organization.

Red don't fall off the bike this year.

Thanks for the memories witten. Next man up.
Team has to provide a suitable next man up. Can't its be the guy who happens to still be in the TE room. Like with our safety group, our TE group is now bottom 3 in the league.

Yeah. Five years from now, one of the board will nominate Witten for enshrinement with one of the shortest arguments in Hall history. Selectors will roll their eyes during each meeting for reducing the number of candidates. Finally, practically all of the selectors will softly applaud the reading of Witten's name as a finalist. Stale process but it gets the job done.

You have to admit that Witten was the complete package TE and that set him apart from most all the TE's who have played the game.
Antonio Gates is certainly in that class. Witten will make the ROH very soon and the HOF shortly after that IMVHO.

HOF. Not sure about the ROH. But yeah. It should be a special day in Big D when Romo and Witten go into the ROH together.

Well, that's why I'm saying that it should be done when we play Tennessee. That game is a MNF game in Dallas against a team from his home state. What better time to put him into the ROH than that night, on Prime Time Television? I think that'd be PERFECT for us to induct both him and Romo into the ROH.

Hmm.....I kind of get it if they go to another team, but now you have a throwback jersey.

I would not call Brooks a douchebag for not understanding why Witten will be inducted his first-year of eligibility. Instead, I would either say he is working with a false premise in Witten's case or intentionally creating clickbait.

Ring of Honor induction is completely up to whenever Jerry Jones thinks it will make him look good doing so. He could put Witten in the Ring today if he wanted.
