And I’d add that while Tersterverde and Bledsoe werent better here Id still place their overall careers ahead of what Dak has accomplished at this point.

The bigger point I think is Dak a better QB and when I say that I mean his passing ability which is what so many are criticizing not so much his overall ability to manage the game, etc.

I think most would acknowledge Dak has some great instincts and savvy QB skills but it’s his NFL proto type passing ability which are questionable.

When your on a winning streak like his Rookie season they aren’t going to be as glaring. Winning cures many ills but if we continue to struggle with a bottom tier passing game with Dak and we aren’t winning and making the playoffs Dak is going to held accountable. That’s life as a NFL QB.

I can't disagree on Bledsoe and testy but we have to compare them as cowboys qbs to dak. I wojld also argue thst dak has also shown very good accuracy and struggled tgis past year primarily on protection issues impacting his game.

I think my bottom line is that I love the potential and future we have with dak...he has the right makeup and the leadership qualities to be a star and a cowboys great...this year will go a long way to either confirming or refuting my opionon...only time will tell.

Didn't really like the Romo era. Too many bad memories. He was an exciting QB but the Cowboys should have been playing in championship games not elimination games that we lost.

I was more ready for the triplets to go. After the last super bowl, the offense remained ok at moving the chains but they were incredibly mediocre at scoring. Between the '95 SB and Tony's arrival, the offense was basically trash. I think they only finished top 10 in scoring once during that span (in '98, when they finished 9th) despite fielding 4 hall of famers on offense during the first few years. I'll never forget the 21 point game with 7 FG's, and that was a good game lol. We never did get very far with Tony, but at least we could score again--immediately becoming a top 5 offense in scoring in 2006. Hopefully, the last 8 games prove to be the exception and we don't slip back into the doldrums that began when the triplets were no longer bolstered by a superb line and defense/special teams units that frequently generated multiple turnovers in big games. Except for the lucky few who can just flat out dominate physically (like Larry and Deion), individual accomplishments and recognition in football are as much about circumstance as performance. Most guys, even most of the very good to great players, need both.

Change is good...inferior players? Not so much.

We’ll see what happens. This offense is clearly either going to go very well or incredibly poorly.

I ABSOLUTLEY love how ALL those loving cowboy fans were just giddy, tear jerking crying over Dak's first yr 13-3 season.... boy oh boy have times changed in only 1 season, those same Dak is da man, Dak will save us, DAK, DAK Dak raa raa now think he's washed up, good for nothing, needs to be traded the ole "get rid of the bum" calls coming from ALL you so called fans... I'm sick of these fair weather burdturds... and I pray Dak sticks it right back in all of your smug *** know it all faces. We have what is referred to as diamond in the rough in Dak Prescott, and yet all any of you can do is judge a kid in his SECOND season. Pull his numbers, even WITH all that went wrong last season, DAK was not the pinnacle problem. But hey your all so smart and football genius's you go coach the team. That way YOU can trade away Dak, and any others you have sat on your butt condemning for the loss's.
And another thing, go start your own "Dak haters" club posting... sick and tired of reading this horse****

While I’d agree placing Dak above the QB’s you mentioned would you place him above Merideth, Staubach, Morton, White, Aikman or Romo after 2 seasons?

Curious where that middle of the pack begins with you?

Dak is Better than all of these ex Cowboy QB....Merideth, Staubach, Morton, White, Aikman or Romo dang can't you guys see Tom Brady talent when you see it!!!!!!
I would Trade Zeke as he's not needed when Dak is under center......:lmao2:

Are you serious? I’m nervous as hell.
With Romo/Witten/Dez it was not for lack of talent that Dallas didn’t win, it was terrible luck and terrible decisions by the FO that held us back.

The talent is gone now, but the FO and coaching remain. I’m hopeful about Dak et al, but the hope with the previous generation was that they would succeed despite the FO. They didn’t, and even though the FO seems to have gotten its **** together, I’m not convinced the kids are good enough to win just yet...

Right, I am too. I am not expecting a winning season due to the same coaching staff mostly. Can they have a winning season, yes.
I posted in another thread that this team could win as it has the basic same core of players as the 2016 season but it really doesn't.

We have a new secondary with no leader to it, yet. Most are in their 2nd and 3rd years, and yes showed improvement by the end of last year.
We have new LB's other than Lee, but often injured.
DL finally seems to be getting that pass rush but yet with young players, injured players, a player that finally was healthy and played great, but in itself the DL has questions. Like a run stuffer, one may emerge.

OL is the strength once again, or it should be. Still with a rookie possibly at LG and a RT in his 2nd year, and LT with back issues, will it be an issue again, but we seem to have fixed the depth problem.

TE's, who steps up, can any of them can, this is one of the biggest question marks.
WR's basically all new, who steps up. Here is a concept..all the passing issues was not Dez's fault.
RB's, is set, and along with the OL the only 2 most sure things right now.

QB...a lot of the success will need to come from Dak. He improves hi accuracy and release, in which if the OL does their job, the WR's do theirs all will help with that.

So yes way too many question marks right now. I say 8-8 right now, because that is always what this team averages out to be. Can they go 10-6, sure, but this is where the coaches need to show they are the answer. They need to be the difference makers to put the players in a situation to succeed.

I enjoy watching a young team mature and grow into winners. To many times Dallas has taken a punch and laid down. I'm excited to see what this team can do when adversity hits.
Hard to believe there were just four seasons they all played together (2011-14). I wish that era could have gone on longer. The era of "not winning a thing" continues, but that's a different discussion not related to those three players, who took more than their share of punches and kept getting up again.

2011-14
Offensive (Defensive) Passer Rating

NFL Rank
1 Packers (10th)
2 Saints (23rd)
3 Broncos (18th)
4 Cowboys (28th)
5 Patriots (14th)

Here's every team and their number of playoff wins from 2011-14, with how they ranked in offensive/defensive passer rating. The teams with 4+ wins all ranked in the top half of the league both offensively and defensively. The Packers (1st/10th -- 2 wins), Steelers (9th/11th -- 0 wins), and Bears (15th/13th -- 0 wins underachieved, while the Colts (21st/26th -- 3 wins) overachieved, but generally the most complete teams are the ones with the most success.

7 Patriots (5th/14th)
6 Seahawks (7th/1st)
6 Ravens (16th/4th)
5 49ers (10th/2nd)
4 Giants (12th/15th)

3 Broncos (3rd/18th)
3 Colts (21st/26th)
2 Packers (1st/10th)
2 Texans (17th/6th)
2 Saints (2nd/23rd)
1 Falcons (8th/20th)
1 Chargers (6th/25th)
1 Cowboys (4th/28th)
1 Panthers (13th/24th)

Here's the same list for 2015-17. Dallas is 15th/27th, and the last two seasons 8th/26th.
6 Patriots (1st/15th)
3 Broncos (31st/2nd)
3 Eagles (14th/12th)
3 Steelers (11th/14th)
3 Packers (10th/24th)
3 Falcons (3rd/20th)
2 Seahawks (4th/4th)
2 Panthers (22nd/8th)
2 Jags (23rd/10th)
1 Chiefs (6th/1st)
1 Cards (21th/7th)
1 Texans (30th/13th)
1 Titans (20th/23rd)
1 Saints (2nd/31st)
1 Vikings (8th/6th)

I look forward to this coming season too, and I'm still hoping we can field at least an average defense during this decade. It would be the first time.

Worst defenses statistically in NFL history.

Horrible offensive lines most years.

That's what Romo was trying to overcome.
Doesn't really matter. I've already said he was wasted here. It also doesn't take away his own mistakes in big games. And early in his career Romo did have good teams. What he didn't have were good coaches.

Hear me out...I said the era not the players. I totally blame the lack of playoff success on the FO and bad coaching Not the players. But we didn't win a thing. Now with new players a new energy and focus., Garrett and the coaching staff should be on notice, win or get out. Plus I enjoy watching a young team mature and grow into winners. To many times Dallas has taken a punch and laid down. I'm excited to see what this team can do when adversity hits.
what I would like is to stop talking about it.

these guys never won anything except big contracts.

in the history of the franchise..

they are zeros

He had some good teams from 2006-2009 and in 2010 the team was picked to go to the SB before it fell apart. And the team was struggling before Romo got hurt that year. Of course Wade was an awful HC but then so is Garrett. Parcells was the only good coach Romo had and he was burnt out although I think we would have been more successful if he had stayed.

If nothing else, the final spectre of Bill Parcells is gone.

Witten is going to be missed, but I am glad the era is over because it means that the Parcells era is officially over.
