Collins will be back for week 1 action, just can't make training camp. We need camp bodies.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Never a good sign when a player switches positions.

Even worse when they are sent back to the one they came from.

First we hear Tavon Austin is going to be a web back from Stephen Jones.
Then he hear that he will primary be a WR from Linehan.

Tomorrow we will hear he is being moved to FB.
My thing is the rams couldn’t figure out how to use him with a new coach who is an offensive mastermind but our staff can??? Dunbar/Whitehead replacement. They keep thinking that a scatback speedy guy is the missing piece somehow.

I'm sure these former Cowboys players all regretted switching positions:
  • Mark Tuinei DT-->OT, 2x Pro Bowl, 3x Super Bowl champion
  • Randy White LB---> DT, 9x Pro Bowl, 9x All-Pro, Super Bowl MVP, Cowboys Ring of Honor, Pro Football Hall of Fame
  • Rayfield Wright TE-->OT, 6x Pro Bowl, 6x All Pro, 1972 NFC Offensive Lineman of Year, 2x Super Bowl Champion, 1970's All-Decade Team, Cowboys Ring of Honor, Pro Football Hall of Fame
  • Jermey Parnell DT-->OT, signed $32M Free Agent contract
  • Patrick Crayton QB-->WR, 3rd down receiver for Cowboys
  • Darren Woodson LB--> FS, 5x Pro Bowl, 4x All-Pro, 3x Super Bowl Champion, Cowboys Ring of Hono
  • Jay Ratliff DE-->NT, 4x Pro Bowl, 1x All-Pro, signed $20.5M contract in 2007, and $40M extension in 2012.
  • Keith Smith LB-->FB, signed $4.2M free agent contract
  • Brian Waters TE-->OG, 6x Pro Bowl, 2x All-Pro, 2009 Walter Payton Man of the Year
  • Drew Pearson QB-->WR, 3x Pro Bowl, 5x All Pro, Super Bowl Champion, Cowboys Ring of Honor, 1977 leading receiver in yards in NFL

How is giving a guy a chance rather than cutting him "jerking him around"? For that matter, how was Green jerked around?

Perfectly fine young swing tackle with two starts.
Hey, you're a guard now! Turn yourself into one this offseason.
Hey, you're a tackle again! Turn yourself back into one this week. Don't worry, if you have problems with only a week to transform yourself, we'll hang you out to dry for most of the game because Next Man Up!

Neal has probably been training all off-season to play FB after being told he was changing position. Why were we moving a 280 lb DT to FB in the first place. Now, forget all that, and the fact that he was probably slimming down. Bulk back up young man - your a DT again ! (Now that he's really underweight).
Some players can do it, some cant.
And same as Collins - it's not that I'm opposed to moving players sometimes. But give them a god dam chance, Collins was moved in season with having spent his first off-season preparing to play the 3-tech. Now Neal, although early-ish, "hey, forget about FB, back to being an undersized DT".

Neal hasn’t even had a practice at FB so don’t see how it could matter to him

If some guy barely making the squad isn't spending the offseason trying to get better, he's toast anyway.

Neal took off a lot of weight to become a FB. Down to 280. And likely was focusing any study and training on that.

He was 280 last year
He was told less than a month ago they were gonna look at him at FB so don’t think it’s had much to do with his off season

I think you're right. I thought he was around 295, and there was noise about him playing 1tech. It's hard to see what we'd ever do with him. Is he supposed to be the next Aaron Donald?

I have a better idea. We all know that Marinelli wants his DTs to be fast and elusive rather than beefy and physical, right? So why not Tavon Austin at 1-tech?

My pet cat, but now I realize he’s gonna have to go somewhere else to get a chance. They don’t have future plans for him here
