The coaching changes are all good. Kris Richard seems to have lit a spark in this secondary. X-man Woods will shine this season and I'm hard-pressed to say which corner I like better, Jourdan Lewis or Chidobe Awuzie. Covington and LVE are solid LB adds that I can't wait to see in action and that D-line is packed with talent(except at 1 tech). The defense ought to be top tier this season. It's time to give them a name... and not "Rod's Orphans". On the offensive side, from watching the rookie WRs practice, it seems Sanjay Lal is changing the way that group does things too, focusing on route running ability. And most important, that O-line seems to be fixed.

Do we even have excitement anymore ? Excitement was Roger and the fastest man in the world on the field together . Excitement us drafting Tony Dorsett . Deion and Charles Haley that was Excitement!!!

Now its more like anxiety. Who will get suspended and for what now ? Will Zeke be a committed professional or a party boy thug ? Will Gregory be able to play and stay clean ? Is Tyrons back shot ? Can Sean Lee stay healthy ? Is Bailey recovered mentally and physically ? Has Daks accuracy improved and more importantly will somebody step up and become a reliable target for him to throw to as at this point our WR corps scares nobody . Has Jaylons knee totally healed ? Why didn't we get Dontari Poe so we could have a chance to stop the run and not beat our LBs up?

OK at this point I'm not excited but somewhat optimistic about a couple things. We drafted an Olineman which should help us run the ball consistently otherwise Garrett has to try and coach and we all know where that leads .
We are finally done trying to force the ball to a guy who has lost his football concentration and cant catch .
We have enough DEs that we could rotate and have a very good pass rush but since we failed to upgrade the interior teams will probably run the ball more on us to expose this weakness

With some luck we could have a good LB corps and the secondary with a year of experience under there belt may surprise us . The new coaches could help probably wont be worse than there predecessors but it would be a tall order for them to be able to overcome Garretts gameday miscues .

Seeing Dak take a page from the Brady , Edelman , Amendola handbook and develop some great chemistry this offseason with any combination of these new receivers would excite me .

To me its Jaylon Smith. I think this is the season you find out what he is going to be. I would also not judge him until week 7 or 8. Is he the game wrecking LB from ND, is he a rotational guy that flashes every now and again, is he a JAG, or is he shot?

My guess is that he is a game wrecker.

The D. If I wasn't concerned about the safety position, I'd be expecting massive things from our D this season. As it is, I just think it will win us a lot of games.

A lot of things have happened to reshape the Dallas Cowboys this offseason. There is always roster overhaul, but this year, with the retirement of Jason Witten, and the decision to cut Dez Bryant and Orlando Scandrick, it seems like the Cowboys have moved into a place where new leaders are going to have to emerge.

But it's not just the players. While the team kept Jason Garrett, Scott Linehan, and Rod Marinelli, they have a new special teams coordinator, and replaced most of the key coaches just below these guys - coaches who tend to have the closest relationship with the players in their position groups.

I'm excited by these changes, and think the team will be much better for them. Here's a rundown of some of the things that are getting me excited, not in any particular order. Which ones move you the most?

New coaches.

I am pleased in these two areas:
1. I like the way the Cowboys FO managed the draft. No unnecessary silly Jerry moves that plagued us for years. They were disciplined and took players at good value points while still addressing their needs. In reality, we won’t know for at least a year or two how good this draft is, but the way it was run was encouraging.

2. As pointed out in the BBT article, I like the fact that this team is younger and more talented. With the departures of Witten, Dez and Scandy, only Sean Lee remains as a starter older than 30.

A couple of things I’m not pleased:
1. The loss of Rich Biasaccia as ST coach. If you watched “All or Nothing”, he was one of the most respected coaches on that staff. A real presence in the room. IMO, he seemed to garner more respect that Garrett. Maybe that’s why they let Oakland poach him?

2. Still don’t think this team has fixed the problems at the safety position. For the life of me, I don’t understand why this team seems to undervalue a position that in today’s NFL is one of the top 3 most important on a modern, effective defense.

Our emerginf defense if Sean Lee stays healthy.

Fun facts: In the games Lee played all the way through the Cowboys defense allowed 12.8 points per game and 281.6 yards per game.

The Chargers were the best in the league with only allowing 17 points per game, and Denber allowed the least yards per game with 290. So we would have lead the league in both.

I think our Def will dominate, starting with the D-Line

The defense. It will be the opposite like last year. Defense will be better than the offense for the 2nd time in who knows how many years.

the hope that around February 4th or 5th that Garrett is the first EVER Head Coach to be canned right after his team wins the SB

ok, ok
* Jaylon Smith
* Kris Richard and what he can do with this exciting, young stud-like secondary
* New-look WR corp with no stud/alpha dog (who ya gonna cover d? it won't matta)

I'm torn between the extreme versatility of Lewis Neal and the prospect of him playing FB, DT, QB, CB, WR, OL, and LS. Or the budding rap career of Cole Beasley with or without secret sauce.

Wow, that's quite a recommendation -- that stout fireplug is an incredible creature! He's like 2 Bobby Newhouses rolled into one. :D
