It is getting tight. A conditional pick is possible - basically giving him away, with some lottery we get some compensation for him.

I think he's better than other people do. I put last year's debacle primarily on the coaches flip flopping a young guy on position. I also have the theory that Crawford is not a guy who is going to test your skills in practice on protecting the edge.

Thinking he's better, I think he's good depth for the oline. And maybe a guy they'd sign at a below markup price (because of their own screw up) next year ( to the howls of fans).

He's definitely on the bubble.
.....which has made Tyron's back muscles atrophy and hurt?

If true, come back soon Randy!!!!!

I'm not defending the game at all. I agree that the sheer magnitude of how bad it was would make it incredibly difficult to every truly trust Green again. But I do take a little exception with fans who act as if the game was foreseeable and the Cowboys were incompetent for not seeing it in advance. Green's performance in 2016 suggested he was a solid backup. As I said, if the team decides to keep him, which I don't necessarily think will happen, but they did the nice thing is that he would be 3rd team this year instead of the next man up.
The biggest blunder was not trusting him but not helping him when it became obvious he couldn’t get the job done

Amen to that. As bad as that game was going he should have been given blocking help every passing down.

Since he's been injury prone for years, I don't see how he's good depth.

Lawd, this thread shows how desperate we are for football banter...seeing this thread title in the top 15 threads every day is hurting my brain.

/Thread, for the love of [insert your creator's name here...or not]

(...and yes I realize that this post just raised it back to the top, I was desperate!)

All jokes aside, back in 2016 Chaz Green started a couple games at left tackle and he played very well. That game in Atlanta last year was likely the worst played by any o-lineman in team history, but can we really let one week define a player his entire career?

The real problem with Green is he can't stay healthy. If he can somehow overcome that, I still think he has some value as a backup. Move him back to guard and if he has a really good camp and preseason, maybe Dallas can get a late round choice for him before September.

That's a fair knock against him. More relevant now that we've been carrying fewer linemen. The G/T flex is perfect for our last lineman, though.

The blunder was trying to turn a young, soft T into a G in the offseason, then expect him to still be a T without *verifying* that he was up to it.

I don't believe it was just that game, unless there was some medical or drug issue we don't know about. He was out of practice. Got beat exactly as you'd expect a guard to get beat - with speed around the edge. The kick step just wasn't fast enough.

This should not have been a surprise. They should have tested that and trained that once he was demoted from G. They should have *known*.

Well, you're using a two week stretch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Since Green has not been able to over come injuries during his complete college career and his complete NFL career, I'd have to conclude, no, he's not going to be able to overcome.

While watching that game I was thinking, how in the hel_ are Linehan and Garrett not helping Green. One of the worst coaching displays I have ever seen. Dak got hit play after play after play. Garrett comments after the game, maybe we should have he given Green some help.

Curious. What do Garrett supporters think was going through Garrett’s Head during all those hits and sacks on Dak throughout that game. Do you Garrett supporters think Belicheat would have let that happen to his young QB?

Come on man. Linehan and Garrett were not incompetent for not seeing this fiasco in advance, they were incompetent for not trying to do anything about it during the actual game( chipping with a TE or back etc.). Well, Garrett did clap more than usual as he encouraged Dak to get up off the ground!!

By the time a guy is in his 3rd NFL season with the same coaching staff, they should know what he is capable of doing. So, either this was a completely botched evaluation or Chaz just wasn't up for the moment. Not helping him just compounded the blunder. Your back-up tackle shouldn't be giving up 5-6 sacks in a half to a mediocre player like Adrian Claiborne. Chaz wasn't facing Von Miller out there.
