Is Zack skipping OTA’s?

Itll get done. We will not let him go into the season without a contract. Look at hunter henry yesterday. Can’t blame Zack on holding out of voluntary workout.

Zack is young, is not injury-prone, in an emergency can play any position on the offensive line, is "diva-free", team leader, and more important, the best guard in the game -- pay this guy.

I think you guys are underestimating just how much money this deal might end up being. He's likely going to be paid more than the vast majority of left tackles.

At the end of the day, he will likely be making more than our franchise LT.

Something else to consider is that he could possibly be asking for "Nate Solder money" rather than just being the league's top paid guard.

It is not unreasonable for them to ask for over what Andrew Norwell got from Jacksonville. Martin is clearly the best at his position in the entire league and deserves to be compensated as such.
I don't know about Martin being the best OGuard in the league. I remember seeing him struggle often early (September - mid October) the past three seasons.

The brains "shutting down" belong to the people who can't see a draft bust for what he is because he has a star on the side of his helmet.

Y'all are just so in love with any player the Cowboys might have on the roster that you can't help but to try to make him out to be better than he is.

What do 90 man roster mean?

I fully expect he won't make the 53 but What do you gain by cutting him now?

Oh I'm not campaigning for cutting him now. Like you said, they have 90 roster spots. No need to do something out of spite. Just stating that he's not good at football.

He's done in Dallas. After the Atlanta debacle, he never saw another offensive snap last year. Not when Tyron Smith missed time, not even when Jonathan Cooper got hurt in week 17. Chaz Green never saw the field again. And I see no way that changes, barring a huge series of injuries. And that's the only reason he's still around.

More likely the issue is years. Zack likely wants fewer to be in line for a second giant deal. Team likely prefers a 6 year extension (like Fred took). Zack would be 34 at the end of that. He'd likely prefer UFA again at 32

Another distinct possibility.

Agreed. He is also not likely to get any cheaper.

biggest sticking point to most deals is guaranteed money. players want as much as possible. teams prefer to give as little as possible. it's tantamount to paying up front.

zack skipping ota's is not hurting the team in any way. it's a smart move on his part. and it gives the new o-line coach a chance to see some others play. much ado about nothing. they're voluntary. I think eagles and chargers just lost starters for the year due to injuries in recent ota's.

In his first year he struggled a bit against strong NTs who were bullrushing him. But that was to be expected as a rookie. Else he had small problems with pass protection. But nothing special.
In his second year i cant remember him struggeling at all. Actually i see this as his best year as a guard.
In his third year he struggled in the beginning. But to me those "struggles" had more to do with the new RT he had to get insync with.

So to say he struggled early in all of his 3 seasons is more then overdone.

Player "X" is holding out for contract reasons.

Cowboyszone: "who is it because if I like him I support him holding out".
